FINALLY after a long search i got my lowering springs .

...and now to get them installed Any recommendations for good shops in the durham region area...i wanna get em on by saturday..bah i cant wait..

i lowered mine and im on stock shocks... thye have been fine so far.... and my ride is in no way bouncy.....

i lowered my car on 9 year old stock shocks and it was fine....for the first 3 months, they were totally toasted in about 6 months.
If you are going to eventually do shocks, then wait to install the springs, no need to pay for install twice.

The ride won't be bouncy if you drive like a grandma. But it still won't be proper. Your shock's won't be stiff enough for the spring rate. If you only care about looks and not handling then stock shock's are fine. And concernign the Install call north oshawa auto repair. The guy can do anything. He'll give you a decent price if your paying cash.

i do drive like a grandma lol.. im trying the springs on stock shocks since mine seems to be working fine and everyones opinion is different about it, and everyone seems to have different results

well if the shocks are going to blow in 6 months why not do it properly the first time around? i know you're anxious to drop your car but if you don't mind paying labour twice than go for it.

the reason everyones opinion is different is becasue some people know what a bad ride is, and some dont.. take for example my friend Todd.. he dropped his car 3 inches on coilovers.. he says to me it rides real stiff... i said "bouncy??" he goes no.. it handles real well and doesnt bounce like u said it would.. i get it the car, first whoop we hit and the car is almost outta control...

i then MADE him purchase basic Koni Specials.. we tightened th3em all the way and slapped them back on.. lifted the car .5 inches and it rode like a race car...

sure you struts wont BLOW for 3-6 months... but even if they arent blown, they will still be way underpowered for the stiff spring rates./.. ESP with coilovers...

oh well.. your car, your saftey, your choice...

I tottally agree. Common Ricer myth is that you can (seriously)lower your economy car on stock shocks and it will handle better.

oh i know it wont handle better, i just want it lower for now..i also rarely drive over the speed limit, so ill never be going fast enough to really notice my car flinging up and down...
i could do this work myself, but this is the first time the bolts will be removed and i dont want to deal with broken LCA bolts etc, the mechanic can deal with that. Shocks will come eventually, i can put them in since i have all the air tools and spring compressor

Ya. Why cheap out? I mean its only around $100 per shock. And most have a lifetime warranty. Don't be a Rice boy. Wait a Few week's and Buy the shock's and get them installed together.Also, There's too much salt and Crud still on the road. Wait till it rain's a few more time's so all the Salt and Grime gets washed away. THEN install them properly with the Shock's.

yeah i too recently bought lowering springs, and am waiting till i get shocks...

supen. is one of the most important things on your car, if your gonna do it do it right...

i'm running around 4x4 for a season then dropping it next year when i get shocks...

most places will charge the same thing for installing shock / springs the same as just springs...

going with new struts is obviousl the right and better way to to do things, but it is not always necessary, it depends what kind of springs you have, if they are a huge drop and really high spring rates new struts are suggested, because your old stock ones won't like it. I have Tein S tech springs on my car on stock struts for now, the ride is very nice and it's NOT bouncy, reason is that the drop is only like 1.75", and the rear spring rates are low, this is not the best setup for autocross, but very nice for a daily driver.

stock shocks on lowering springs= no good

i thought my car handled good with stock shocks/neuspeed race springs untill i installed my yonaka true coilovers... the diff. was night/day.

true coilovers are the only way
