Wtf: Where Is All My Gas??

Hey I was just wondering how many KM's per tank a 2000 SIR is suppose to get. I have half a tank left and got 200km so far, I figure I'll be at high 300's before the light comes on. Is this right? I know the car rev's high but shouldn't it be more than that? Also, I'm not driving harsh either, switching at 3000 with a little full throttle.

That sounds about right. I get about 450 to a tank on my Si, and I'm sure that B16 of your's may use a little more gas. Maybe you need a tune-up.

My car ran way better after I got it tuned. Maybe you just need a new fuel filter. It could be clogged. Dump a few bottles of fuel system cleaner in your tank. See if that helps. There are tons of threads about tune-ups.

I see, I'll do some research. Do u think I really need to replace my fuel filter? my car is a 2000 with less than 20000km on it.

I think at 20000kms, you shouldn't even need a tune up then. My car didn't get it's first major tune-up until 50000kms. Then another one at 95000kms. The previous owner of your car could have been using bad/cheap gas. I'm sure once a few more people read this post, they might give you some better insight.

For mine, thats the minimum with the A/C on. I very rarely drive it till the light comes on though. Besides, that old '93 is alot lighter then either of our cars isn't it.

Just intake and exhaust. I used to run out of gas in my Golf all the time (broken gauge), so now I fill up just below tha last quarter.

Your mileage doesn't sound that far off. I get about 200 km to a half tank on my EL, although that is mostly city driving in relatively heavy traffic.

thanks for the input, I went to install my springs today and noticed that the car had a full exhaust from front to back. I didn't know that, maybe that could be why it is a little lower?

i have a 93 Si hatch with a 99 dx tranny and i can get 650 kms on a tank... even with redlined shifts every now and again... i dont know how that happens though cause it hasn't had a tune up in a long time.

what grade gas do you put?

I have a 02 SiR, and for I vary from around 200-250 at half, I usually end up at around 450km per full tank, but I think my tank is bigger than yours.. not sure?

I also use Ultra 94 at Sunoco, and drive moderately hard.. but then again it's a NEW car.. only 2500kms on it

i used to use the 94 ultra from sunoco and i'd get like 600kms or so... but then one time i couldn't find a sunoco so i used petro canada's 91 octane stuffand thats when i started getting 650+ kms... not sure why a lower octane gas does better... maybe they put more ethenol or something cool into the mix

but having the newer dx tranny really improved millage... cause it revs like 500 rpm lower at any speed in any gear then my old Si tranny... for some reason the car is faster accelerating also dispite the taller gears...

Petro =

Sunoco =

lol.. maybe I'm biased b/c I have CAA

I feel my car has better pickup with the higher octane though.. guess depends what you're looking for.. milage or performance
