yes it's the program that the ecu runs to control the injectoirs and other stuffs....

as for chiping I think it's one of the final steps that should be done like upgrade everything else then get a tuneable ecu (like AEM or something like that) and tune the car properly then.

gatherer's got it right... a Honda with basic bolt ons has all the provisions in the stock ECU to read the mods and use an appropriate fuel map. You can tune it slightly with a cam sprocket, advance the timing, and use a FPR, but in reality, there is less than 2-5 wheel horsepower to be gained from that. Chipping is not needed unless you bump compression. A lot of guys with tuned N/A Hondas who run Spoon, Skunk or Mugen ECUs end up running really rich cuz their engines don't have the volumetric efficeincy that the computers were designed for. Don't bother unless you have access to a dyno with a wideband O2.

I run a hyperduck chipped ECU.

I am very happy with the results.

Is my engine finished? who knows? depends how I'll feel next week.

Was/Is it the one of the final things I do to my motor?

Hell no

JSK, what other mods does he have? There is no baseline with stock ECU, just Mugen and Spoon, and like I said, w/o enough mods, they run rich... perhaps he could have more power from a stock ECU

So it is worth it than?
To chip the ECU?

I'm thinking no, atleast for basic boltons...

At the minimum when you chip your ECU you should have basic bolt-ons done...

I/H/E

If you chip your ECU without any upgrades it won't do anything for you.

Depends what stage of the game you're in

Well, domestics benefit big time from chips, but not Hondas. Domestics like Neons, Saturns, Cavaliers etc. have shitty tuning that leaves a lot to be desired. Chip that with IHE and you got seriously about 15-20 hp at the wheels from those bolt ons. That's a serious gain! Hondas though, come optimized from the factory, so there is not AS much room for improvement. Like I could easily build a 180 hp Neon engine with no internal work except for cams, and torque to boot.

i know it sounds crazy bruno, but once you start playing around, you can do lots with a chipped ecu.

There are different programs that affect where you power is.

More mid range power, higher top end power, more snappy power... etc.

Ya, you can affect the curve... but that has more to do with intake plenum shape, length and design than the chip, rod/stroke ratio, bore size, quench area, lift and duration, exhaust manifold shape and size.... and johnson rod angle, blinker fluid level and most importanly... whether you got altezzas or not

hah hah, okay bruno, I'll take you for a ride while you're down, and perhaps your butt dyno will be all the proof you need.
