what setup is the best bang for the buck
Well im looking to spend around $7500-$8000 in september on a swap and mods. I have a 93 civic SI hatch and i want to know what people would reccomend i do? keep in mind that i want to be as fast as possible. Suspension and everything else will be taken care of free of charge
i was thinking
1)h22 with turbo and mods
2)Type R wit turbo and mods
3)GSR with turbo and mods
4)Built h22 naturally aspirated
5)Built type R Naturally aspirated
ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS FEEL FREE!

new option b18b lsd gsr tranny sweet turbo setup cheaper adn can make some big power, oh and a hondata with the right turbo setup will put you over 250 whp and if it does bloe the motors are way cheaper to replace... that my friend is the best bang for the buck

I agree with option 3
* Although dingus88 has a good idea, will be allot cheaper then the GSR, so u can do a crazy build up on the B18B, go on Honda-tech and lookup CheeseFrog (not sure if thats the correct spelling)
His B18b would pretty much beat anything
But I am kinda biase, cause I have the B18B setup, but GSR is really nice to work with

so most people are saying to go with the GSR turbo setup? remember guys i want to be as fast as possible for 8 thousand dollars.. IF i do go with option 3, what mods should i do to get the most power? And what exactly is hondata and what does it do?Where do i get that done?
ex. cams/rods/retainers/springs/cam gears?
i need as many suggestions as possible

Start reading dude -- there is far more to know than what you are going to get in this thread.
But knowing you are only working with $8k that really is only "a GSR and Turbo"
Assuming you get good equipment those two things alone will gobble up 8k.
Unless you have unholy hookups you will not be able to do much more for that money...you will not be able to build the motor.
Either way -- with that money you will be able to turn between 250 - 300 whp. <--- this is fast...plenty fast for someone of your "rookie" status.

b18b with a gnarly turbo setup on teh money saved is my vote...you will save some cash on teh swap so that can be put into a bigger turbo good management hondata or haltec
I say get b18b spend the cash on a gnarly setup then with the money saved throw in some cams and tune that beast to 250-270 whp.. and if it does blow your looking at a cheap replacement b18b..
b18b is a good starting point cause it's cheap can make big power plus you can built the bottom end thorw a vtec head on it sleeve it to 2.0 L etc...it's the best base for big power I think plus the longer stroke and bigger displacement turbo's like that

it seems like in every thread there will be someone to make judgements on other people. I am not a rookie driver, i can handle plenty power. Im just not sure what to do on my own car.
i have driven a porche 911 turbo, a toyota supra, a mazda RX-7, a 525 horsepower corvette. Driving isnt my dilemma. its just knowing good value for my money. Now, I do have a reasonably good hook-up that is telling me that for around 8 grand i can get a GSR-Turbo setup, an 97 h22 turbo setup, or a Type R turbo setup all of which fine tuned. So i was just seeing what peoples preference would be!

well like i said the h22's aren't so great under boost in stock trim...
but for a financial outlook get a gsr and turbo it cause you'll have more money left over compared to a turbo'd type engine... plus you wont have to deal with high compression pistons
