So one last thing...If you have a powerfull SI motor anybody and you think this tranny might be for you then msg me becuase im buying anohter 5th gen in a few weeks with better body condition and a great working motor, so im going to part out my civic that i own right now, youll see the thread in a few weeks, the motor and tranny were purchased in sept and ive only put 10k on them, as far as the rest of the car goes its stock pretty well so you may be interested in the rear discs to convert your non-SI drums into discs, anyways keep an eye out becuase this tranny will be for sale and serious buyers if you would like to drive to barrie and go for a drive beside me and see what im talking about with my speed ratios then feel free to do so before you buy it!

First off, "speed shut off" as you call it otherwise known as fuel cut on a 97' civic si with a stock ecu is 190km/h. Trust me.

What your doing pacing another car at around 200km/h on public roads is beyond my explanation. To quote you: "that's a stupid idea"

Even if your gears are that tall that essentially makes the car a 3 spd civic. Lucky you

Guy, your soo full of ****, re-read what you posted. Are you another one of those 17 year old kids on this board?

230km/h in your little stock sohc civic... hahahahhahahahahahha

And on ICE? HAHAHHAHAHA

That makes me laugh even more.

In reference to your speedo readings with your tires spinning on ice. They are irrelevant as your car is equipped with an open differential. Therefore if one wheel is stopped and the other is spinning, your speedo will be reading twice the actual wheel speed.

It is possible that your car is equipped with a vx, cx, dx, or lx transmission. All of those transmissions have a different final drive ratio and internal gear ratios than the Si transmission of the same generation.

Lastly on a "Stock" sohc d16z6 you'd be hard pressed to do 230km/h without going down a severe hill with a tailwind..

My $0.02

Your civic has a speedo that actually reads up to 300km/h?

Ok i finally wrote down the tranny code for all you curious disbelievers...S20-1259517
There you have it i have no clue what those numbers mean, if you know then pat yourself on the back if you dont then say nothing at all, it still doesnt change why a brand new si motor cant redline 3rd gear on any amount of streched hwy!
And thanks cee-mon (he lives 5 min from me) we've delt before im not a bull ****ter why would i about sumthin like this ne ways....ill take ya for a boot sometime when we have some decent weather & you can tell em...As far as that crap about the speed being doubled on the speedo on ice...its a load of crap man try it out, it would be the same thing as a dyno, the tires are spinning and going through the gear ratios but the cars not moving anywhere you can still only get the same speed out of your cars trannys gears on a dyno as you would on a hill

Well its definatly a JDM tranny cuz i got it from big jap motors, but i saw the motor it came off and it look brand new barley ne dirt on it at all, it obviously has longer final drive but not just final all drives are long for some odd reason....myb its for better fuel economy in japan you know how theyre laws are and it is pretty wicked on gas espeically on the hwy normal 100km/h hwy speed is only 2100 rpm in 5th gear...my other trannys were like 3000 or so at 100 in 5th...guess we're back to square one and the conclusion that its just a tranny with long gears and nothing special otherwise! all those comments for nothing wow!

Maybe you should bring the tranny back, just doesn't sound right to me. I have a JDM tranny and it doesn't have high gears like that.
