what the hell is an electric supercharger?
hey there, i just saw one of these on ebay?!?!?!
Anyone have any expereince with them? |
go put a hair dryer in your intake and voila hahahahaha....they are sh*t
|
haha... there's this chip on ebay that claim to give you 15-20hp gain! haha for only 50 US or less hahahaha
ebay is a fantasy world to all drivers =) |
it looked like an inline blower/fan rated up to X CFM...i mean in principle it should work right - like a ram air but contant, up to maybe 1psi of boost - so why doesn't it?
|
if u want a real cheap ass SC u need a gas powered leaf blower...those actually work haha
|
lmfao.. thoes things are bull**** and a half... here check this out lmao.
The guys at HMT actually tested this... and it makes 1CFM... http://www.homemadeturbo.com/tech_projects/el_blower/index.html you should have searched about this first .. i post on this topic at least once a month. |
lol this is jokes
|
anyone who actually buys one of those, deserves it.

A leafblower, or hairdryer could potentially work if the wheel was designed for compression. But even then it would require a LOT of juice from the battery just to keep it spinning all the time.
A more practical idea might be to use an external source like a hairdryer, or leafblower to prespool your turbo. |
I have one..
added 50whp when vtack hits on my stock b20 |

I acually tried to make my own.
I used a 3" ducted fan assembly from an RC plane from a hobby shop with the highest rpm motor available that would fit it. The problem was the motor couldn't handle the HUGE current from the car battery and it fried. But not before the thing took off right out of my hands from the thrust!! LOL. It definately had enough flow to create at least 1psi and up the ponies of my engine. (tried this on my old V6 cavy) Don't dismiss this type of sc right away. you can't just use any old ducted fan. If it's too slow it will cause an obstruction in the intake. not help it. If it's not done right, its a waste of time. maybe I left the idea too soon, maybe there is still potential? I don't know. Maybe I'll reserect the project and use a step down transformer to decrease the voltage to the proper voltage for this motor so it doesn't fry it and try again.....got nothing to lose...:D |

IMHO just another way to make money off of n00bz that dont know **** about cars. I can only imagine what some fools will think of next. |
I sort of think there's sense in this idea - i mean we know that RAM air works right? So why not a constant sort of ram air? There is a switch so it's not a constant draw on current, and isn't 1 psi ups the HP like 8 - 12% no?
I saw one on ebay for 300us that claims psi and for 500 that claims 1.7 psi...isn't that like 30 hp on a basic b16? |
lol, go buy one man, well worth it!
|
^^
Dude you have a Plastic POS little boat motor blowing air into a throttle body. What happens when its not open? If anything im sure your intakemanifold sucks much more air than that pos motor can blow. The bottem line.. this design is rather restricitve than anything else. Witch is why a real turbo runs off of expeled fumees from your motor. That turbo will only spin off of your exhaust gasses. Witch in turn can only supply more air (boost) on what its provided initially. You buy that ebay 300us ripi off put it into your car and post your dynoresults. |
I already pwn3d another no0b....round two???
|
GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE ALREADY ZYEPHER ITS QUARTER TO NINE.
|
in theory anything could be a supercharger.... anything that can move air. however, you need both PSI (pounds per square inch - pressure) and CFM (cubic feet per minute - flow). unless you can make those two together and at the same time, you haven't got isht. just think, if it was really that easy, wouldn't every car company throw one into their car.... after all, HP figures sell cars.
anywho, if you're smart, you won't waste your money. Those are just boat hull exhaust fans (to vent gas buildup inside the 'engine compartment' of a boat) |
lol - i hate to saw this, but just my age probally disqualifies me from being a newbie! lol, i just think it's an interesting idea, but i guess the technology isn't there for it yet?
