What The Hell...

I've noticed something when driving my car lately. When I drive my auto hatch and she shifts gears the whole car lurches forward kind of. What is it?
I know my friend was getting something like this on his 92 GTi when he shifted, replaced the bushings with polyurathene ones and the problems where gone.
