Got to say that I'm a B16 fan. Thought about putting in an LS bottom for that extra low end, but I will never give up the high revs and that scary feeling at 8000rpm. A b16 with skunk stage 1's and type r exhaust springs will rev to 9500 all day long (and make power there too).
If you really need that low end (and have lots of money to replace your tires more often) do an ls/vtech. But that's my opinion.

that's not completely true. skunk cams, cam gears, type r springs, and medium p&p done properly would get you safely to 9500rpm.
you would need to run some good oil (i.e. motul 300v) and change it often, but when you drop to second on the highway it is worth every bit of the increased engine wear. This setup with good, intake, headers, and exhaust shoud get you just above 170whp on a b16a.
On the b18c1 these cams with cam gears and a bit more head work should safely get you to 9100 and get you about 10-15hp.

Actually the b20b has mroe torque then the h22 and i think everyother engine reason being it has to push the 4 wheel drive system which would normally be in the crv.

Well I just got my B18w/GSR tranny put in thanks to VTEC, and I can say that I am pleased with its performance thus far, however I have yet to be able to gain traction if I gun it. But my plans are to add VTEC (Now I am just waiting for someone to hook me up with some deals on pistons, rods, cams, vale springs etc...any takers ). If you want to turbo you should stay with the LS tranny.
I would also recommend the B18B over the B20, just bore ou the B18B to match the displacement and you got pretty much the same thing.
