Air Boost Valve (Starting Valve), It just gives more air when youre cranking the engine during startup, so you don't need to touch the gas pedal to open the butterfly up to let more air in.

I've seen many intakes without it, im thinking of getting rid of it, what do you think?

imported_gatherer 15-Sep-2003 11:05 PM

honda put it there for a reason... unless you have an engineering degree and decide that honda doesn't know **** ... I'd leave it alone....

then again I enjoy a nice stock car for a reason. I trust them big brains at honda

red90dx 15-Sep-2003 11:41 PM

brett, alot of people from honda-tech remove it,
honestly maybe your b16 was an automatic...and thats why its there.

red90dx 16-Sep-2003 05:36 AM

alot of jdm importers are pulling these motors out of the integra xsi, which ALOT of them are automatic, then they are re-mating them with a bseries tranny.....

have you raced any other b16a?, because if it is an auto, then the cams are def, less HP, compared to the manual counterparts.

look at colvins first ZC or the current one in his ef, its an automatic, jdm importers are running out of the old shcool motors for our cars, and we are getting stuck with the automatic motors.
the ZC I ordered also is a auto, so I am going to be busy swapping over cams/intake manifold..

yeah, it think it will be coming out, i've already had it off and it makes no difference to how the car runs. I know that honda put it there for a reason but, i don't need the undue complexity

honda's brains are smart but for street cars they design them for fuel economy in place of raw hp... i put a small resistor in place of a sensor on the car and got a noticeably better revving motor

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2003 06:26 PM

yes i "can"

red90dx 16-Sep-2003 07:28 PM

rick was that the eacv?

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2003 07:45 PM

i'm really not at liberty to say... and mostly i have no idea what its called....

Brett 16-Sep-2003 09:35 PM

Rick aren't you talking about the idle air control valve from that ebay based thread of a few weeks ago?

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2003 09:35 PM

shhhhhhhhhhhh

hahaha maybe

punkindrublic 16-Sep-2003 09:37 PM

i soldered a few resistors together to get a better over all resistance though

red90dx 17-Sep-2003 01:35 AM

that is same stuff no?, at the back of the intake manifold,

red90dx 17-Sep-2003 01:44 AM

eacv, take it off the car will run richer, and the resistors, so you dont shoot any codes?

Brett 17-Sep-2003 09:56 PM

funny im running a resister right now in my throttle position sensor (its broken) gives me an ecu code but not a check engine light? hope to have a replacement by the weekend
