hey guys

i might buy a valve cover(off a 94 US EX) that says 1.6 VTEC on it, it's off a d16z6 engine...

now i did some research and it SHOULD fit my engine(d16y8), but, i was wondering if i MUST get a new gasket set, can't i just replace my current valve cover with this one? cuz the seller told me that i will have to get a new "valve cover gasket set", wondering if this is true.

and if i must get a new gasket set, can i just get one from a Honda dealer? like OEM set...if so/if not, would i be better gettin that or from another manufacturer? and what manufacturer would be good for price, i'm not looking for super performance, pretty much an OEM quality set if i must...thx in advance

yeah it's true, besides the gasket set is super cheap too.... esp with 25% discount for TCC paid members, and you can sign right up on the spot at Parkway and walk out with your parts.

ah ok, thx, how much are gasket sets at Honda for retail anyway? just would like to know since it's quite a travel to go out to parkway honda wonderin if it'd be better goin to a local honda or sign up n go to parkway, thx.

hmm, would an acura dealership also be able to order this? i know someone that works at an Acura dealership...but any idea at about how much a gasket set is retail? just so i know what i'd be heading into, thanks.

yaaa u can get it from acura just ask to get the 1.6 el valve cover gasket kit

i painted my valve cover many times what i do is i take the old gasket out and take gas and wipe the gasket down and then use a little bit of black gasket marker and wipe it on the gasket very sparenly, no leaks yet what so ever.

buy one from NAPA or Carquest etc...mcuh cheaper...does same trick...dealers tend to be way overpriced...even with a discount it will most likely be more expensive at dealer
