turbo'ed

Alright, I'm trying to find some peeps on this site with turbo'ed or supercharged rides. Anybody? If so, post your setup.

Just to get familiar with everyone. Hey pictures will be good too, just in case we run into one another.

Formerly turboed, but I have since changed my setup... Some of the members on here know what I'm building for the new setup.
Check out the link and you'll get a sneek peek.

www.geocities.com/kustomautoworks/tech.html

As for old setup...

Kustom turbo setup.

T28 IHI turbo Kustom modified to fit onto a D16a6
Kustom mandrel bent intercooler piping
High flow external fuel pump
additional injector w/ Kustom injector controller
MSD 6a ignition, cap, coil

Best et 14.3@94mph

Stock internals, stock exhaust system.

Anybody else?

lol...I had one of the "radioactive" intake as well long ago. In fact, it's still somewhere in the garage.

4 door supered eh? That's cool, must surprise the hell out of a lot of people on the road.

OMG, that's a TIGHT fit. H22 is it? That should be fun. Hey if you ever plan to turbo that H22 engine, let me know.

Kool setup, is it going into a hatch? What generation?

It's a 4th gen hatch.. the details still have yet to be worked out.. But I'm thinking about a turbo.

Sweet, F-MAX makes one of the only few turbo kits out there for the H22, and believe me, they make the best for them. That and the F22 also.

Let me know how that works out. I'd like to see that baby fly. It'll make it into the 12s easy.

Don't get an F-Max kit, go custom. "The best for them" is very relative. There's no good kits for the H22a. The H22a is really finicky. If you're going to turbo it, do it right. Get a standalone, and a custom turbo setup. Otherwise you're going to be screwing around with it all the time.

Actually... that's what I plan on doing... Making my own turbo kit.. and possibly a standalone.. Still trying to do some research on which one to use..

Probably the AEM unless you want to go real cheap and get the Haltech E6K, like I have. You'd only be saving about $300.00 USD, though, and the AEM has more functionality and a much easier install.

I'm picking up a wideband soon, so I might start offering some tuning help, though I don't really have the time anymore for this kind of thing.

the AEM standalone is very good but it requiers the use of a lap top to tune it...a luxury that few can afford.

I would go hondata

Hondata also requires a laptop to tune.

You can easily borrow a laptop for the time you are tuning.

That's a good point though. If you have an H22a1, engine harness, a Hondata 2b would be a good option if there's someone who can give you free access to a Stage 4b with chip burner. If you have an OBDII, the cost of the OBDI->OBDII conversion cable makes it not worth the cost. If you don't have access to a 4b with chip burner then your going to have to pay someone else to tune your car for you which also makes it more expensive and annoying when you have to make appointments whenever you change something on the car that requires new maps.

Judging by the amount of work you've put into the car though, I don't think you want to be limited by a Hondata.

I buddy of mine down in Miniapolis got one of those AEM engine management setups. He absolutely LOVES it. It does some logging and the interface is aparently a breeze. That's next on my shopping list.

BTW: go to the F-MAX site and there is a link in the h22 section which points to an independent review of the kit. Granted h22 is tricky to turbo properly, but if you goto w w w . s u p e r h o n d a . c o m and ask anybody with a turbo'ed lude which turbo kit you should get, 9 out of 10 will say go with the F-MAX kit, if you lack experience in the turbo department. However, KS-R knows what he's going, so you can probably do a custom himself.

Good luck man, gotta let us know so we can see your baby fly KS-R.

Too bad you guys meet on Wednesdays. I don't come to Toronto until the weekends to visit my folks. Else I'd join the club, sounds like a cool group of guys.

I really don't need anyone elses opinion on the kit. I have an F-Max H22a kit myself. Actually the only thing I have left from the kit is the IC and some of the IC piping. Pretty much everything else has been swapped out.

That won't work too well for me.. cause I'm still pre-OBD... eventhough I'll have to convert to OBD1 inorder to run the H22. It's something to think about.

Thanks for the props... I'm still learning.. hehe, but it's been a fun ride so far.

Maybe we can hook up when we come down to St. Thomas. How's this weekend? Thinking of coming down this weekend with a Turbo ZC to do some tuning.
