yeah. somehow i will find it hard to decide... nothing gets me more than a built engine screaming at 9000rpm, but a turbo hits hard and pulls like a bitch... and the BOV is one of the sweetest sounds...

go with NA.. to have a boosted daily driver isnt the brightest idea dispite what anybody says, it's a risk.. it would real suck if you blew your seals or something.. or your pcv system wasn't correct and you built up to much pressure

no... tires are too expensive lol

I only drive the car when I know it won't leave my sight. So I'll go cruize around a while, stop for a coffee, wash it... then return it to the garage.

here's a novel idea: catch a ride in a built na powered car and a boosted car with the same engine, then decide which way to go.

I havn't had a problem with my daily driven boosted d and it's been going strong for 2 years now. In the past I've had to do just routine maintenence like tightening the down pipe when it has come loose or draining my catchcan every couple of months.

when i had the GSR motor, i was in the same boat as you. the more research i did, the more it seemed that the motor was better suited for turbo. it would've costed at least 2500bux for a decent Toda B cam build-up (with Hondata S200), but for only 15-20whp (maybe). drop that much for a turbo kit and you get a lot more than 15whp!

anyways, i'm an N/A guy so i sold the GSR motor and bought a JDM ITR (B18C) instead cuz the difference i paid was less than buying a cam build (for now) and an LSD 4.7FD tranny...i'm pretty much committed to N/A with this motor. =) good luck bro!

It depends what u want. If u want to feel that instant kick then u will have to go turbo for sure. I like driving turbo cars. The BOV is sick also. But u will need a lot of maintenance. A lot of things can go wrong with turbo. If u just build your engine properly and do some nice tuning u can make it go fast too. I personally like driving turbo cars better than n/a cars. If i was to own 1 i would own a n/a car because it's more reliable and i dun have that much $$$ to fix it.

yeah, for n/a i was told easily the gsr should be making at least 180whp with a skunk2 style intake manifold, type-r cams, adj cam gears with the I/H/E(2.5" front to back incl cat) and PROPER TUNING... maybe $500 or so worth of tuning... this i could then swing for hmmm... $900-1000 for the parts, $500 approx tuning and "anyone know how much to install the parts?"... seems like 2gs well spent if you ask me if i am pushing 180+whp and probably revving to 8500 or so... i think i am going to start in this direction... then i can always add boost later too...

i wouldn't add boost "later" to an n/a built engine.

500$ for tuning? add a obd1 ecu and conversion harness to your bill and socketing.. then you got yourself a nice bill.

I can see it making 180whp with those parts but I would bump the compression up a bit if you want to make more power.

And you cant add boost to an engine with a high cr.. so its either na or boost

thats why i didn't want to change the compression for possible boost... and if decide against it then new pistons...

oh, and i am already obd1 right now... i have a conversion on the 2000 gsr motor and a chipped ecu with a stock gsr motor.

you could always grab a thinner headgasket to up compression up a bit..

i dont know which companies make thinner headgaskets but I'm sure they are out there

will that yield an increase in hp alone, or is this to be used in combination with other compression raising work like pistons and stuff?

no a thinner headgasket will up the compression up a bit.

I would then get it tuned to yield more reliable power.
