turbo or twin cam?

well i've been asking myself this question for a little while now.

what would be a better upgrade for my car. (93 si coupe)

Running a turbo setup at low boost (5-8psi) or getting a bigger engine ie, b16a b18c or even b20b.

I'm basically gonna be driving the car whenever its not snowing, from april to november. The added power is not for racing or acting dumb on the highway.

what would be the better choice here, that will cause the least trouble. (maintenance, police etc.)

thnx
Damian

for reliability swaping is better... but if a cop see's either option under the hood he'll be suspisious... also insurance wont like either option

Turbo can be had for cheaper. And brings more HP and a **** load of more TQ than a swap. On the other hand a swap SHOULD have no problems if installed ok. Turbo is a day by day thing, weather affects turbo alot more aswell.

theres no question that a moderate to high boost turbo set up would beat up on a stock swap. however im not looking to street race day in and day out.

im thinking like maybe even 5-7 pounds on a d16z6. as a daily drver from april- october.

or

a b16a or b20b with possibly I/H/E.

turbo D16z6 at 5-7psi SHOULD also beat a b16a or b20b swap.
Once you add up your money you will see Turbo has more gains for the money then bolt-ons.

Just for example turbo d16z6 greddy kit at 9psi + others stuff = total cost of kit 3000-4000 depending how complete you go. Will walk all over a B-series swap + Bolt-ons = total cost 3500-4500.

Also for example d16z6 greddy kit at 9psi + others, can hand a 5.0L mustang his *** providing you know how to drive.

i would stick with turbo damian, the car seemed to be running pretty well how it is now and if something does go wrong you can easily buy a new D series motor for cheap

That thing was nice but I call it ugly because of the green wheels. Anyways, I know he blew the motor, but if you run it at a save amount of PSI, it's still going to be better then running mid 14's with a stock b16. Homemade turbo's can be built for like $1500 or less. It's just a matter of finding a turbo and manifold and getting charge pipes made, etc. The b16 swap alone can run $3000 without install.

This site doesnt promote street racing but its been done plenty of times. And who knows maybe by some people in this post.

I will retype what i just sent to you in PM...
Mustangs are considered Fast cars....plain and simple.
But other V8's out there are faster than Stangs... For example a little birdie told me that a slightly modded camero SS would beat that same turbo d16z6.

Easier said then done , otherwise ppl would just
go with the 'turbo' set up for their D16's...

yeah, turbo is a huge pain in the ***...

if I was starting from scratch now, knowing what I know... I would have just bought a kit from one of the major companies.

With knowledge it really isnt that hard.... There are prolly 50 % more turbo D's out there in the last 2 years. These motors take a beating and keep on lasting.

If you don't race, why do you need power gain?
