use some p30 pistons for a nice, streetable compression ratio or some CTR's for a nice high CR.
Whats the CR with the p73 slugs?
Whats you plan in terms of tuning? Thats very important with a high CR.

yeah im not sure as far as tuning is concerned yet. I was thinking maybe uberdata if i can find someone with a wideband to use for cheap.

With the USDM ITR slugs the CR is around 11.2:1. JDM GSR pistons are very similar at 10.9:1. The JDM ITR ones and JDM CTR ones were like 11.7:1 and 12:1

i jsut wanna have a peppy little motor in my hatch that i can run around in. i am still unsure right now because i like running 87 octane cause its cheaper:P.

Ne other ideas on what i should look into.

Also if decided to stay completely stock could i re-use the pistons if i cleaned them up? I would need new rings im guessing?

well if you plan on overboring .25 or .5 then obviously you will need new rings. But if you were just going to keep your stock pistons in and not pull them out then no.
If you plan on raising the compression you will need to run higher octane gas, 11.2:1 is a very streetable CR. I should be around 11.5:1 on 91 octane tuned with uberdata in my daily driver lsvtec eg coupe. But right now i'm at about 10.8:1 (jdm b16a w/head milled) on 91 octane tuned with a vafc.

yeah im not sure what i wanna right now, if i wanna spend a little money on this engine or just leave it stock and focus on the other one. The reason im taking it apart is basically to make sure everything is in good condition and that there werent any major problems with the engine which i havent seen yet.

anyone have any advice for removing the pistons? In the manual it says to use a "ridge reamer" to remove the ridge thats formed on the cylinder walls where the piston rings reach there highest point but i dont have one of these tools. Will i have problems if i pust push the pistons out the top?

focus on one project at a time. don't go building two engines, and then find out you can't complete neither cuz of funds.

cause u need money to finish ur turbo setup for ur coupe?:P

Right now im content with having my B18b1 installed in the hatch but i kinda wanna get it out sooner than later cause i wanna save the clutch for the coupe.

im pretty sure now im just gonna rebuild the block back to stock after it gets cleaned up and if i come into enough money for the turbo setup then ill put it together for that engine. The main reason i wanna turbo the B18a1 is to get experience installing the setup, tuning and troubleshooting problems before i dive head first into the big project.
