strut mount questions

I'm going to be getting my Koni's and my springs (Tein or H&R) installed within the next few weeks, and I was wondering if I should replace the strut mounts too. My car is a '98 with 130k's, so they must be getting worn out. And, if I ever decide to swap the stock struts/springs back in, then I can just take out everything as a whole unit instead of disassembling everything. Should I go OEM or try the ES ones? How much are they? I guessing not too much becasue they are just rubber with a few bolts and stuff. Any thoughts?
Thx.Mike

I think they are expensive, you want the whole mount assembly... ES just makes the bushings that go in it... bets bet would be a junk yard

Matt

I guess. I can't really remember what they were made of from when we took them apart last time. Yeah, I mean the whole assembly. The metal mounts with rubber inserts, and various bolts and stuff, the dust boots, and the bump stops. Basically everything except for the struts/springs themselves.

I was going to price them out at the Honda dealer near my house, then hit Parkway for the discount in a few weeks when I get my springs, and you are free to do the install.

Have you ever done the springs on a 7th gen Civic?

IMO you should just pick up a second set of upper mounts from Parkway. That way the wintertime swap take 1 hour instead of 4 cuz you don't have to compress the springs. Of course, you'll also need a second set of bumpstops.

B. thats exactly what I was planing on doing, but I was wondering how much they were, and if anyone else does the same thing. I guess the ride will be a bit different too 'cause the mounts are new, and prolly a bit firmer.
Thx

Mike:

My neighbour mike with his El went to honda and acura to see how much everything would cost, and including dust boots and top hats for all corners and assorted nuts/bolts etc the total came to around:

$120 - $130 at each place.

Hope that helps.

Mike can post the exact price if he sees this.
