Sir Sways front and rear

Are the front and rear sway bars from a 99-00 SIR compatible with a 00 sedan? Can i use my stock endlinks? What else is needed for the sways to work on the sedan / ? ? ?

thanks

I have SiR front sway on mine, and ITR rear sway. I also have a sedan. You can make it work for sure.

Front SiR lower control arms
Endlinks
D brackets
Front suspension forks + longer bolts

so i need the front LCA's for the ssway to work? how bout the rear?

bbarbulo 19-Jul-2005 05:06 PM

rear you just need the sway, the end links, the d brackets, and the sway brackets.... and all the nuts and bolts.

Yes, rear is quite simple. It is the front that requires a bit much work.

is there a big difference? is it noticeable when driving/ cornering, i dont think im gonna go through the trouble for a front sway, cause i wont have time to source out the forks/ the lcas,

bbarbulo 19-Jul-2005 06:57 PM

the front/rear sway combo was a great upgrade for me. it's well worth the time effort and cost.

Nova_Dust 19-Jul-2005 09:06 PM

I agree. For me, they do provide handling assets to a certain degree. Paired with other chassis stiffen parts and you can notice improvement.

If you have time to post, sourcing out parts shouldn't be hard. Spend 10 minutes on Classified and you should be able to find the front sway bar components. There was a couple last week.

Joker,

Are you sure your car doesn't alreayd have a front sway bar? I'd get under there and look again.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet- but I've noticed GS-R front sway bar links MAY work w/o having to get SiR LCAs. The GS-R links are diff from the GS/LS models. It has the correct joint to attach to the SiR sway bar and also the correct LCA bushings to attach to the non SiR LCA.

It may work, provided the GS-R link length is correct and the SiR and non-SiR sway bars span the same distance from LCA to LCA. This "should" allow you to use the SiR sway bar w/ non- SiR LCAs.

^^Hard to explain. Hopefully some of that made sense.

If I get around to trying it this weekend I'll let you guys know. I've had the SiR sway in my garage for 6mths now so here's my chance to put it to use.

Either that or have something that oddly resembles a front sway bar underneath my car connected to the front LCAs...

I never thought it did until I was under there last time and noticed. I don't think my old 96 sedan had one.

Nova_Dust 20-Jul-2005 10:40 AM

Lee, 26mm front sway bar?

imported_GoldBadge 20-Jul-2005 10:56 AM

I didn't measure, but it looked about an inch thick...so ya, around 25-26mm.

BTW, my sedan is an EX.

imported_Joker 20-Jul-2005 11:38 AM

American EX? if not then all the models of civics are the same except the sir, only things different are the options and interior stuff i think... Nova, did yours come with a stock front sway?

Nova_Dust 20-Jul-2005 11:39 AM

No, my car is a DX, has no sway bars whatsoever.

bbarbulo 20-Jul-2005 05:27 PM

I have an LX and it did not have a front or rear sway. Now that lil problem is corrected :)

i was going to get my front bar and rear bar installed yesterday but i got the wrong front bar and could only install my rear gsr sway bar and WOW, it makes a HUGE difference, the car no longer wants to push as much and the rear seems to stick better but wants to come out at the same time. it was a blast to drive my car yesterday and now i'm debating on wheither to install my front bar or not. btw i'm going to be running a SI 21mm front bar only. if i were to ever upgrade the rear sway i would just go ST 19mm. i have 3 other bars on the car currently, rear itr strut bar, floor bar, and front ebay strut bar.

I think it might have something to do with it being a 2000. Maybe in the last year they added a few extras to the EX...maybe it was for 99-00, I'm not sure. But I have things like no antenna, heated mirrors, height adjustable driver's seat, AND a front sway bar (my old 96 EX didn't have these). I'll take a pic next time to prove it.
