THANKS MIKE!I wanted to know that!

So this is the situation. Si mid piping is like 1.6/1.7". I just had the ITR muffler bolted onto my car with new gasket and spring kit and it fit perfectly! Zoro just had to extend my tip cuz it was too short.

NOW. My cat is getting old, and I'm not sure but, I am going to consider getting that SiR midpipe combo. Mike do you know the diameter of the SiR piping? According the Zoro, the ITR muffler ended up being about 2" inlet. At the flange, my Si flange fit right in. IT was meant for 2" midpiping though.

GET AN
SiR/ITR, you won't be dissappointed!

Here is a good pic I found to show the difference. The exhaust on the right is the stock CX/DX Hatch exhaust. The exhaust is an aftermarket cat-back for an SI/SIR. You could still use it on a Hatch, but you'd have to have a piece made to fill the space where it's too short.

OK, so I've re-read this thread a couple times and I'm still not 100% sure about whether or not an SiR axle back will mate with a D16Y7 exhaust.

Judging by the pic that Mike posted up, it seems that the axle back is interchangable between then Y7 and Y8/SiR midpiping. I'm saying this because they only have a pic of one axle back and do not show second one for the Y7 exhaust.

Sorry for being redundant, but I just want to make sure. I'll most likely just get an SiR axle back anyway...lol.

will a Type-r oem cat-back bolt onto a 96 ek hatch w/ b16 & sir cat? Or do I need to get a type-r header?

I know this is an old thread but is there a performance difference between the itr or sir mufflers?

interested in buying an sir muffler for my 99 si as well and wondering what the stock diameter of the si's a-pipe and b-pipe. i believe it's 1.75". is it the same as the sir's?

Nothing objective I would know but I would guess that since its on a Type-R that it must be designed to produce less back pressure since the type-r piping is 2 1/4" and SIR is about 2". So yes, it should equate to better performance but in terms of weight considerations it seems much more larger than aftermarket mufflers.
