Shocks Lower ur car a bit???

I'm looking to upgrade my shocks on my 99 ek hatch.
I keep hearing that preformance shocks will actually lower your car a small amount?
I current have Tein S-Tech springs which I believe give about 1.8 drop all around. I wouldnt mind being a little lower, but I want to avoid any rubbing on my rims and or tires.

Is this true? and What would be the best shocks to go with that will give me a good extra drop... wanna get to around 2"

thanks for the input

They should all be the same length as your stock shock absorbers.

it really depends on what kind you get, i've heard of some shocks having adjustable perches to be able to choose how high you mount your spring...

i'm sure you can find a shock that does it, but i don't know what kind would do that for you..

if you want lower i'd say get different springs, and get your shocks as well..

Koni Yellows and Reds have adjustable spring perches that allow maybe +/-1" of adjustment.

Shocks don't lower your car. Springs does. U can get aftermarket springs and stock shocks but ppl say don't do it.

no! shocks and struts do not lower your car. springs are the only part of the suspension that control the ride height.

i have a set of koni yellows, and they do not lower your car. the only adjusting they have are to control the stiffness from the top of the strut.

On Civic applications 1992 to 2001, there are several grooves in the Koni struts. The spring perches can be moved up/down by circlips that the perches sit on adjusting the vehicles ride height by an inch or so.

On a Cavalier, the Koni struts are inserts that re-use the stock strut bodies. On Civics they are complete units that don't re-use anything. Stock Cavalier struts obviously do not have the grooves and circlips and that is why there is no height adjustment. Oh, and they are adjustable for damping not stiffness.

See the grooves and the circlips? The spring perches sit on those.

DumbasSi, is correct, Koni yellows do have adjustable spring perches... maybe not all of them, but I know they do for sure.

^^ Correct.

My buddy used to have a Cavy with Yellows on it.
And he told me that he could adjust the height a bit with his shocks.

Knew you could do it with Civics too....but wasn't sure if it was the same way.

So you can actually lower your car approximately 1" with your STOCK springs if you get the Koni Reds or Yellows?

My Reds only have the adjustment on the rear. But the Yellows have the front and rear circlips. In the pic you can see the grooves in the strut housing. Those are where the circlips sit.
