re:Can any motor be changed into any form of obd

I bought a b16a motor and will be putting it into a 96 obd2a civic. Now realisticly cant you change a motor from obd0 to obd2? The difference would just be the sensors on the motor correct? If i put a sir manifold complete, use my 1.6 injectors,obd2 distributor, obd2 vtec harness, obd2 comp, vtec cylinoide, could it not be done? I know things like the cams and compression are different but it would just be the block and head that would be saved for the swap?
anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

well all you really need to do is get obd2 injectors, dizzy, alternator and ecu.
But i do believe that obd2 ecu's look for the crank position sensor in the oil pump and obd 0 and obd 1 oil pumps don't have the crank sensor. Now, you could prolly get away with using an obd2-obd1 conversion harness and using an obd1 ecu, but you would still need the obd2 injectors and alternator.
You will also need a b16 hydraulic tranny to work with your cars hydraulic clutch sytem.

just like zeeman said all you would need is that. you can try the conversion harness aswell but will still need injectors.

putting an older motor into a newer car is illegal.

i've already got most of the parts but the crank position sensor i never thought about. Will any dohc vtec oil pump fit a b16a? Also is it possible to use 1.6 single cam injectors on the b16 motor? Are the flow rates the same, any difference?

Also do any of the dohc vetc motors use factory aluminum oil pan? I see steel all the time, just woundering. My el comes with aluminum pan from the factory i dont know if all y8 motors come like that, but do any dohc motors come with one? I believe the pan also partially bolts to the tranny as well.

thanx everyone

you can use the sohc injectors...as long as they're 240cc, which most of them are, not all but most.
All b-series injectors are 240cc.
You should just use a 99-00 SIR oil pump b/c it will fit for sure and have a crank position sensor. But for the price of the oil pump you could buy an obd2-obd1 conversion harness and p28 and not have to worry about crank position sensor.

I'm pretty sure ODBII also looks for a knock sensor; not too sure about ODBI.
