re:205 or 215 rubber on ek?

whats the widest rubber you can go on a ek platform without rubbing the inner or outter fender? Will a 215 rub? What offset will you need on a rim to run a 215 or higher?

imported_civicfighter 15-Sep-2006 01:54 AM

i have had 215's before and they rubbed. Stick with 205s

Gunmetalef 15-Sep-2006 11:23 AM

:dito: you will rub stick with 205 its not worth it

1sykcoupe 15-Sep-2006 11:35 AM

195

Jameson 15-Sep-2006 11:39 AM

the only way you could run 215 without rubbing would be to either use spacers or throw a rim on the car with a offset that will compensate for the wider tires.

The Prophet 15-Sep-2006 01:38 PM

ya 205 are plenty wide for a civic for daily driving...

Nova_Dust 15-Sep-2006 02:17 PM

195 for daily driving cause the tires will turn much easier; 205 for slight improvement on handling and part weekend racer; 215 and 225 are for serious road racings.

The wider your tire, the harder it is to turn at low speed.

Yeah i use 195 and i drive a 96 civic. I would like to get 205's but ive been told exactly what Nova_Dust said.

imported_plzbeleiveit 15-Sep-2006 08:02 PM

im using a 205, excellent traction from the take off. 205 rub a little bit for me when i turn the wheel all the way. i dont have power steering and i have no problem turning from a stand still with 205s as long as their properlly inflated.

Nova_Dust 15-Sep-2006 10:41 PM

I use 205 at summer, now going back to 185 all season. I have a set of 225 which I will try to put on and see how that goes.

imported_slowandfurious 18-Sep-2006 09:13 AM

thanx everyone

Jameson 18-Sep-2006 01:24 PM

I run a 205/505/15 on a EF hatch, and i don't rub at all, but i do have a small spacer. I do believe tho hat without the spacer i wouldn't rub, but i havent tried it.

Bryce 18-Sep-2006 02:28 PM

195 all the way

j_limitz 18-Sep-2006 10:31 PM

i have 215's...they rub like crazy but my car is low...when i raise it up i'll let u know how they are...when i am at a stand still and i tunr the wheel they do not rub...

imported_mikepasini 19-Sep-2006 03:13 AM

i ran 205s before and they rubbed when i made u turns... but, never really otherwise and my ek hatch had a mean stance too.

Gunmetalef 19-Sep-2006 08:03 AM

i run 205/50/15 i had iton my ef and my el now never rubbed

Nova_Dust 19-Sep-2006 08:44 AM

I had 215 at the back and the tires were damn close to the quarters, I could bearly fit a finger in there. When I run 225, it is gonna be interesting...

I have 205/50/15 and my rims offset is pretty wide. Everytime I hit the wrong bump my front tires rub the fender well, sometimes they hit so bad, that eventually now the paint is chipping off my front fenders due to the wheels actually bending the edge of my fender!!!!

When I am buying tires, for sure I will go 195, no nore 205. I'm a daily driver, and drive to waterloo often so it's a piss off rubbing tires every bad bump.

szuberi 21-Sep-2006 10:42 AM

while charles is right but if you wanna go for the looks as well, 205 is more baller than 195

imported_mikepasini 21-Sep-2006 10:49 AM

from the back or front it has such a sick looking stance... 205 all the way... even 285 for the rears with some spacers and cut out the rear fenders... now thats baller.
