The intake looks like a second gen!! Notice no plaque on the intake manifold /hard to tell though with that pic.. My guess would be a second gen

bbarbulo 29-Jan-2003 03:13 PM

It's a JDM engine... prob is a 2nd gen, but no way to tell unless you look at the connectors and stuff.

Fugy 29-Jan-2003 03:34 PM

which connectors.. PLEASE TELL ME!@.. so i can check.. THANKS SO MUCH

HAPPY 29-Jan-2003 03:38 PM

Does it have a hydro or cable tranny??

KS-R 29-Jan-2003 05:03 PM

judging by the pic it looks like a 2nd gen...

there seems to be a hydro clutch line running across in the front... the vtec solenoid has a 2nd gen plug on it. Looks like it has a machined fuel rail as oppose to the 1st gen cast ones. Other than that.. not sure.

bbarbulo 29-Jan-2003 05:23 PM

KS-R's got it...fuel rail is the easiest to check...the connectors, they have more to them as OBD generations went on. More computer involvment = more connectors.

imported_My Blue Si 29-Jan-2003 05:31 PM

you can easiely tell by looking at the throttle body, it's a second gen b16.

is the stock 99-00 SiR first gen or second gen?

bbarbulo 29-Jan-2003 05:35 PM

stock SiR 99-00 is a second gen hydro tranny B16A2. Can someone confirm this engine code, I've heard conflicting codes from other forums. It's a 2nd gen for sure though.

HAPPY 29-Jan-2003 06:51 PM

JDM 1st Gen B16 = B16A
JDM 2nd Gen B16 = B16A
USDM SIR B16 = B16A2
DEL SOL B16 = B16A1 94-97
= B16A3 99-00

There are some euro B16's too, but there is no need bringing them into the mix.

Falcon 20-Mar-2003 12:00 AM

what is the diff with the Del sol b16a1 and a USDM b16a2? or is there any? Also where are the DOHC VTEC Del Sols built?

thx

B16A 1.6L JDM DOHC VTEC 89-91 Civic Si-R I/CRX Si-R, Integra RSi/XSi 160hp
