Question about Fuel press..
Just wondering what fuel pressure I should be running with the B16A in my 1992 civic?
Stock pressure is like 35lbs or something like that but I have heard that with a VTEC motor you should have around 60psi. Can anyone tell me if I should get a higher pressure fuel pump? And if so any sugestions on brand to use? I wanna do a in tank one. |
anyone have any idea or know where I could find this info out?

38 idle, 43 WOT

I went from a stock to a Walbro fuel pump and I felt a big
difference , throttle is instant ...very snappy and fuel pressure went from 45 psi to almost 60 psi without any adjustments... |

See my brother has a 91 Accord that we put a H22A in and when VTEC kicks in in it it is alot more of a kick than in mine 'cause he had 60 psi from factory. Also the guy at Honda said all VTEC motors should be running 60 psi. I'm gonna order a new pump tomorrow. Thanx! |
why don't you upgrade your fuel injector first?
couz fuel injector controls how much fuel you send to your engine. |
Wondering the same thing myself. I did a b16A2 swap in my car and was wondering whether or not upgrading the fuel pump from an SIR or getting a High Flow pump would be better. I notice my car is sometimes harder to start under a full tank, and my throttle response isn't as great as even a regular SI. Tazz did you end up upgrading your fuel pump? I can get one off E-bay for pretty cheap
|
no I have had time to get to it yet, I'll get to it in the spring I think. Since I won't be driving it this winter.
|
for $140 you can't really go wrong and seeing how your car is a 92 it probably needs one so just do it.
|
Why not get some kind of fuel pressure adjustment system (like a regulator or AFC) before a new pump, see if your old pump is up to the task...

how much is a walbro fuel pump? I'm running stock SI pump for my h22..
|
$79 USD on egay

What kind of fuel pressure should you run on a B18c1 when its at warm idle?
|
Is it hard to change the fuel pump?
|
most EVERY fuel injected 4 cylinder I've come across uses 38 psi at idle, and 42-45 psi at WOT.
Moe, not really - lift up rear seat, remove access cover, turn snap ring, disconnect hoses, and connections (remove battery first so you don't blow yourself up) slip out sender unit, replace pump on sender unit, put everything back. |
