problem with car today

I had a leaky rad, didn't pay attention to it untill it was too late and temp needle went rigt to red, I had to buy a new rad, but I think my fittings arnt on 100% since i still loose a bit of coolant and my engine bay looks wet under the new rad

ok...i popped the hood and i dont see oil on the engine anywhere...i can look through the engine bay and see where whatever was leaking is on the floor but i cant see anything leaking unless its underneath. i also took off thermostat and it looks fine and the coolant was all the way to the top of it and still green. The car started fine and warmed up properly unlike the way it fucked up in the morning. I put a piece of cardboard under where the puddle was to see if it is still leaking...if it is i will take it to a buddy to get it looked at...if not i will check coolant and engine oil levels again.

look at your oil and see if it's like a chocolate milk shake
see if your rad is missing any fins
wonder if your water pump has chewed itself up... when was the last time timing belt/waterpump was done?

and I agree with the water pump possibility... if it hasn't be changed when you got the car how many km's? how many KM's now?

We'll see when I take it on the highway again after work. If the car heats up a lot then it might be the water pump because the coolant won't circulate properly, correct?

your buddy is wrong
loudsubz, I only say that cuz I did a revamp of my cooling system and I swear, until I had every hose replaced I kept having leaks left and right. It's like when one part fails, they all fail
waterpump is the same process as the timing belt + one step. It's easy if you've done a TB change before. Basically strip the dr side of the motor down all the way, change the waterpump, timing belt, gaskets, and possible tb tensioner, and away you go!

one big thing with a bad gasket or one thats going is the overflow container will overflow, right to the top, because the head overpressurizes the rad, you prolly just had a sticky thermostat...might want to invest in those failsafes just incase.
