PowerFC Users - Any here
I'm wondering if there are any PowerFC users here. It's a pretty popular ECU for 240 guys so just checkin in on the civic crowd.
At this point I don't need to know that Crome is cheaper...I'm just intested to know if any civic guys in TO are PowerFC users.

only available in Japanese?!?!?!
And no self-diagnosis facility?
No map trace?
WTF?
Sounds like a very expensive alternative to a proven, cheap, effective program such as crome.
If i had a bunch of money to waste, and could read/understand japanese, i'd prolly give it a try.

Well - that review is a few years old. There are now many support outlets in English.
Also, there are self-diagnosis sections and map-trace...they just didn't mention it in the article.
But I'm not suprised to see you in here flogging Crome

ya, crome is free, you can't go wrong with free engine management IMO.
I'd love to try it though, but i couldn't justify the cost, given how well i've run even high WHP cars daily driven on crome.
Buy a powerFC and i'll help you tune it for free.

Well, free is a bit of a misconception. You can't simply download Crome and tune a car. That being said, it is definately a cheap(er) solution.
And I've had a PowerFC...had one in my SR20DET 240sx last season... it is a very nice system.

well it is free.
The customer doesn't have to buy crome.
The customer just pays the tuner to make a custom program using crome. Unlike hondata/neptune/emanage/haltec/motec/powerFC where you have to purchase the unit AND pay someone to tune it.

Well - you've only painted a picture of half the market.
What about the guys that want to do it themselves.
PowerFC - plug and play and go tuning.
Crome - Free Software...now go buy Crome Pro licence, Chip Burner, Emulator, datalogging cables, specialty socketing tools and a laptop.
Doesn't sound too free to me.

well there are other options.
You could just use cromefree and ecu control for datalogging. You don't NEED a real time programmer. There are plenty of DIY'ers out there doing it like this.
But to be comparable to the PowerFC, you're right you'll need a real time programmer ($175), datalogger ($50), burner ($100) and Pro license ($150) and a laptop which you'll need in order to tune with ANY software (including the PowerFC) and of course a wideband o2 setup (again which you'll need to tune with anything).
So the $475 you'll spend for all of the stuff you'll need to tune with cromePRO is still way cheaper than any other option out there (except neptune, b/c its $450 US and comes with a real time programmer and datalogging setup built into it).
But we digress from the point.
If you're planning on using PoweFC let me know b/c i'd love to experience it firsthand to compare for myself.

But let's get off it.
I don't plan on using the PowerFC again...personally. I'm now moving to the AEM EMS for my 240sx.
I will however be tuning a RB26DET 240sx with a PowerFC and FC-Datalogit in a month...it should make 600rwhp.
