I SAY NOT WORTH IT TOO.!!!!

Many Co.'s that are affiliates of a forum like to advertise they are cheap when in comparison they are so freakin expensive.....

i think who ever gives these guys permission to be an affiliate is being paid lot of big bucks...

isn't affiliates suppose to be cheap?

makes no sense to me

they are expensive cause they are a big name shop nto jsut a startup business..they work on lot's of high end motors...so the cost is more...and yes they pay to be affiliates so....I'd say not to count them out but to shop aroudn adn see to get the best deal to suit your needs...I hate how everyoen jsut say's leitner or whatever how about saying yes them but shop around..

Alot of the affiliate places are big name companies so they will charge more than a lesser startup business that is tryign to make a name for themselves where as they already have made a name for themselves

but shopping around is what the person is suppose to do ... by calling places and using the yellow pages or driving around ...

on here it's simple Leitner pays for part of the webhosting costs and in return we recommend his shop...

that is how affiliation works .. if we just decide to recommend whomever we want then leitner might decide it's not worth his time to support the webhosting fees then the board goes down and where does that leave everyone? .....

You get what you pay for! Im sure that there is a reason it is much more expensive... Have you ever compared the gains in power from one job to the other? I could see there being a problem if they both make equal gains. But do they?

if the place you have it done has a flow bench and they know what they are doin then gains will be in the same ball park give or take...$1200 is fackin rediculous I'd rather buy a new motor for that price!

whats funny about this thread is most of those complaining about price are the ones that are not paid members of TCC and therefore don't get the discounts.....

lol

ok checked out the price list for myself....

it's as stated here:

Porting and polishing -developed on our superflow 110 flowbench
- Includes 3 angle valve job and resurfacing

(I'm just going to state the costs for our engines the rest if available at their site)

four cylinder 4 valve = Mild performance is $650 full performance is $1200

I'm guessing the difference is the flow rates that are tested....

I'd very much love to see the website of this company that did yours for 200 U.S.D. because I'd love to compare....

you can't port and polish a head without a flow bench ... it's that simple .... the only way to understand how the air flow is reacting to the changes is to test it .. and on top of that it's different for every head do to the castings not being exactly similar .. you have to flow each head.

I'm sure there are lots of shops that just go about doing the porting with a dremal and hope it all works out ok in the end...

Anybody who thinks leitner's prices are too expensive just don't have a clue. If you compare their prices to other reputable machine shops it is actually about the same or even lower in some cases. (even lower if you're actually a member of this club and not just some poster who thinks they're entitled to discounts). Portflow in the states charge $900 US for a head job (WILD application). Alaniz Technologies charges $675 US for mild, $1100 US for wild, and $1800 US for extreme. CCHT charges $625 CDN for mild, but does not include valve seat cutting.

I'll go over step by step what is done to each head at leitner, this will give an idea of why they charge what they charge.

$650 CDN for mild setups (designed for most street applications, whether NA or boosted)

$1200 CDN for wild setups (you will need a sh*tload of engine modifications and external add-ons, and other machine work to benefit from this type of port 'n polish... mostly for competition cars and extremely hardcore setups)

All port 'n polished heads at Leitner get the full treatment. The head is completley disassembled and hot-tanked... everything is cleaned thoroughly inside-out. Glass beading is done on the exterior, ports, combustion chambers, and valves. Absolutely every part is inspected. The valve seats are cut to 3 or 5 angles using a computerized machine that cuts the angles within an accuracy of +/- .05 degrees.

each seat is vaccum tested to ensure they seal properly..The ports are re-worked according to it's intended application. A head used for a turbo application will require different air flow characterisitics compared to a head that will be used in an all-motor setup. Everything is done using a flow bench, this is the only way the precise air flow numbers needed can be achieved. And of course the head's surface is milled down to ensure it properly mates with the block. Upon request, leitner can provide you with the air flow results or even do a flow test with you as witness.

I doubt you get all this for $200.

There's a lot more to a proper p 'n'p than simply grinding up the ports to let in more air. Give a monkey some sand paper and it could probably do a $200 port 'n polish.

you want it done right, take it to Leitner.

Full lietner treatment eh? Im not sayign that they are bad, but in the last year ive heard many complaints from a lot of people, and have PERSONALLY seen one ****ed up block.

Auto Accessor Zone's h22 went there for sleaves, they put the motor back in the car, not 500 km's had to take the motor out and inspect..... piston to wall clearance was too tight.

And what did leitner do? NOTHING. Its funny when u spend like 5 g's at a place, they **** up and nothign is done to fix it. I call that utter bull****.

This board has a ****ign problem because it sucks the sponsors dick's, u mention any other shops other than the sponsers and mods come and change your post.

You dont even know letniers side of the story...

Like your not even intelligent... You know practically nothing about cars, all you do is say **** that some other guy told you and think its written in stone.. I do realise that we all went through this stage when we first started learning about our cars, so maybe you will learn from this eye-opener.

So do your self a favor and do more reading than speaking, then maybe , just maybe someone will hear your opinions.

Now shoe kid before you hurt yourself.
