Poll: new shocks

Gonna be grabbing some new shocks to go with my sportlines in a few weeks from Astroboy. I've been reading reviews and now I'm all mixed up. So, of course, POLL TIME!!!

One more thing...look beyond the 5-way adjustability when voting. I wanna know which shocks are better quality. I guess what I'm saying is: The Illuminas aren't shitty shocks that seem good cuz of the adjustability are they? I'm really paranoid because I already fucked up and bought stupid shocks once...don't want it happening again.

both are a good shock.... i've personally never had either on my car but i have heard good things from both.... the koni reds are adjustable too you just have to take them out of the car to adjust....

unless your racing the car it shouldn't matter if you can easily adjust them though.... i'm probably gonna pick up some koni reds in the springs myself.... or maybe yellows if they go on a niec group buy again

yeah it kinda matters cuz then you can go nice and smooth on like 1 or 2 or when your in a mental racer mood you can go nuts and break your neck driving on 5 lol

Any opinions on Tokico Blues? I wanna set them up with my H&R sports....

They seem to have a good value. (Around $450 for a set of 4, tax in!)

Any ideas?

I'd go with Red's over Blue's. I think you can get the Red's for around $500 give or take a bit tax in from our affiliates. I have a buddy that has a blues and he blew 2 of them on neuspeed's.

yeah, I'll have to agree... Illuminas if you can afford it.

Gatsby, there is a guy in the classifieds, EK_Racer, he's got some shocks for sale and springs altogether for $450. You can sell the springs for $150, and have yourself shocks for $300... check it out!

HEH I can't wait...I'm gonna be changing the settings all the time like a kid in a candy store...1 to ride like a cadillac 5 to ride like a freak racer psycho. But I heard it's not good for your car to ride on the stiff settings too often unless the road is nice and flat?

well if the road is broken up with pot holes and stuff the stiff setting will allow more road noise and harshness and vibration to be transfered through the suspension to the chassis.... and this causes wear....

for myself I was reading a book on honda performance that recommend the following

for street driving: 1 in the front 3 in the rear

for autocross: 3 in the front 5 in the rear.

Just one warning about the illuminas (only possible problem ive heard of)... Ive heard of some rumours of careless users stripping the adjuster screw...i beleive its an alenkey head or something... Like i said ive never seen it happen, just heard, so just a heads up that you may want to give extra attention when makeing the adjustments, especially if your going to be playing with them allot

full stiff is going to be pretty harsh for daily driving...

yeah i think ill drive on 5 for like 10 mins just to see how tight it can be on some new paved road or something...ill probably do what gatherer said either 1 or 2 front and 3 rear for daily driving
