Phantom Grip LSD

I can't explain in technical terms, but the concensus is that a Quaife or Kaaz LSD is much better amongst road racers.

I have thought about that, but ITR is not easy to come by, I have checked before. I don't think that it is the best, becuase Honda never won any important races. Some of the LSD that have been mentioned have been used in F1 and other racing series. You are right about the money part thou, if I could find a ITR tranny, then it is all go.

I know that the expensive ones allows you to adjust 0-100% lock by moving and rearranging the plates around. I also know a little about the different types of LSD, the one you mentioned is the detroit locker (GM's name) which is only good for drag. Anyways, it is still cheap and worth trying out. Tomorrow is my day off, I am going to my mechanic, then I'll see. I'll defintely keep on posting.

someone said that the Quaife and other aftermarket are know to be better amongst road racers, but my question to you is....what are you going to do with your car? Are you really going to be racing? If not, then there is really no need to spend a fortune on LSD. If you want to put more power to the ground and have your car handle a bit better then I would think an ITR tranny would be more than sufficient. I mean, people are always boosting about how great honda's are and that they are of superior quality than domestics. So if thats the case, then why is the LSD in an ITR tranny (or an ITR tranny for that matter) now all of a sudden not that good? If your going to drag race or do some serious autocrossing then ya i'd say get the best one money can buy because you gotta win right......but an ITR is one of honda/acura's top cars next to the NSX and it has about 200hp (an ITR), therefore the LSD on an ITR can handle at least 200hp. How much power are you going to make on your b16....even if you supercharge or turbo it, its highly unlikely you'll be making more than 300hp and everybody says that an ITR tranny can hanlde that much power without a problem.

I see your point, and I agree
I was wondering, how come nobody drives their ITR around in the winter, if the LSD is that good, doesn't it give more traction. I see alot of Civics.
An ITR tranny is hard to find, anf yah it comes with everything, if I can find one, I am putting it on, the phantom is very temping thou.

The gear ratios are the same. The only ITR tranny that's different is the 98 Spec-R tranny. It has a 4.785 final drive and USDM 4th and 5th gears.

AFAIK, the only LSD's that you can rebuild for different specs are the clutch-type ones (ie. Cusco, Kaaz, etc.). bbarbulo, correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, I get it, thanks.
Just one more thing, is the JDM LSD adjustable, meaning, can I increase or decrease the grip?

It is always a gamble. I'm actually struggling with it right now.
Buy a quaife and know 100% that I am covered and know 100% I have not just wasted my money.
or
Save a little bit of cash and get something that has the potential to perform as well but has an increased potential to cause me hard-ache and potentially more money if/and when it breaks or does not perform to its standards (ie: used LSD from JDM or Phantom).
Ultimately, like EVERYTHING in this game, it boils down to budget.
