oil change noob questions

Hey guys, I have a couple of questions.

How tight do you torque the drain bolt?

Should the drain bolt ever be changed? I heard the washer must be changed with every oil change, is this true?

Thanks

if its not leaking, dont replace it.

Usually i visually inspect the washer, if it looks fine, re-use it.

It's 18 ft lbs I believe. But usually snug is good enough. I just snug it with my fingers then give it about 1/8th of a turn so its tight, but not over tight.

I've seen people strip the threads from over-tightening the pan is aluminum!

I've also seen people that do not tighten the bolt enough

iv stripped the bolt. sucks the big one.. had to put an over sized bolt with a new washer .. still leaks but very little.
