basically, it's like this... hi and welcome. the answer to your question is... yes and yes and no

finally, my advice is this... enjoy what you have been given. you are fortunate enough to drive a pretty nice car, with a lot of potential. the fact is you have just proven that your dad is right not to trust you as you have tried racing your friends... so clearly he is looking out for you best interest, and quite frankly I'm not about to ruin it for him. I'm sure someone in your family built that car with a great deal of passion and care, and until you learn responsibility, it's best that the rev limiter stay in place. Also, when you start breaking parts, can you really afford to replace them?? I recommend you start looking for a new tranny while you're at it. Now, I know you weren't looking to be told this, and you prolly hate to hear it, but take it from someone only slightly older than you.... your dad is right, they usually are despite what we as kids say. deep down you prolly know he's right too.

yeah, the ECU can limit the RPM, and it's pretty cheap too!! yeah the MSD can limit the RPM, and that's cheap too. So which route your dad chose is hard to say. And no, there is really no 'slick' way to switch back and forth between redlines, esp if it's in the ECU. I will say no more... and quite frankly I dont want anyone else saying anything more neither. Enjoy what you have.

just a lil advice, take it to the track man...
the road is not yours... consider the safety of others as well...
enjoy what you have... your dad just don't want to lose his son or harm others...
