motor swaps on 4th gen
 

hey guys was just wondering how much it would cost me to get a 140hp integra ls motor put into my civic?......like installed everything, jsut a rough estimate, im thinking of getting this and then putting a vtec hea don it, type-r cams and spraying it.......????????????????

i will install that motor for $500.00 in just labour, you supply the engine/mounts/tranny...etc..


I have a few ls computers for your car if you need them also...

man stop dreaming you have a nice strong motor as is...jsut spray it....or get a zc it has 130 hp adn is dirrect bolt in...hence you could do it yourself...motor will be $600-800...and ls vtec's are garbage it will blow in probobly 2 day's or 10 seconds spraying it....

why spray a ls/vtec should put down 200hp to the wheels if done correctly!

I know a few ppl that blew their frankensteins, and there's **** all over every honda web board out there about how unreliable they can be.

if done right, they are really good, but not so much people i hear can properly get it doen right.

exactly if you want to spend seriosu cash than ya it's a dirty setup but other than that it's a hard edge setup that coudl blow at any time...get a zc corey or spray your motor both are cheap and doable yoru self which saves $$$$ so jsut pick a route and DO IT!!!!

would 1100$ for a complete zc swap be good w/o labour? it has absolutely everything for thge swap, axles tranny engine harness.

hey guys guess what, today i went out and was lookin at the motor and i wiped the engine block where the engine code is and this car aint got no si motor its got a zc.....i was thinking it was a lil peppy for only having 108hp.....lol....what is the zc motor a b series, d series what and where would i gt a vtec head from for it and what kidna power cna i make out of this thing?

is it sohc or dohc? cuz if its sohc it likly has vtec, and if its dohc, its pretty much impossible to put a b seris vtec head on

for a civic board peoepl dotn' knwo to much...it will be a SOHC zc that basically is the "si" usdm motor...it has 108 ish hp..it is basically the same motor the stock si's have...the 130 hp zc is the DOHC one....

there is a single cam ZC motor which has more then 108hp... i'm not sure exactly i knew at one time.... it is not the same motor as the stock si's have either... it has the same displacement but the bore is smaller and stroke longer.... not by much but enough to see on paper....

xactly... the jdm sohc zc makes 130 hp(honda rated) and came in 92-95 civics with dual stage vtec, unlike tri stage from the 6th gen civics

yay i was right... i thought that all the single cam vtec motor were single stage, and like the b series were dual.. also h series... then like the nsx was tri stage vtec?? but i could and probably am not right on this one..

not with the nsx iu dun think... it was used in the cx for fuel economy but i could be used as a super agressive performance in the nsx

when you said cx did you mean vx there?? cause cx never came with vtec... while the vx had a totally different form of vtec from pretty much all other vtec motors... if you have a hynes manual you can see the difference its kinda weird how it works but meh... i'm sure if pulovr was on now he would find a nice picture of what i'm talking about

Some of the ZC's did come with SOHC engines, but they were not all Vtec ones. Also, they came in NON vtec as well.

Some also came as caburated instead of FI.

Trust me on this.


Some of the SOHC ZC non Vtec came out of the Civic Ferio 4WD, (as well as some other Honda cars). Because of this, they had more torque than thier North American conterpart.


Ie......if you took a JDM ZC SOHC motor out of the above car, and switched out the carburator for a FI set-up, you would have the HP of the North American Si, but with more torque to boot. Oh yeah, that's also with NO Vtec either.

Do a few mods like CAI, header, FPR, exhaust, and you'd have a car that would drive circles around the Si. :listen: and because the valve cover looks EXACTLY the same as the wimpy D15 one, people would just look the other way, and not take notice. hehe little do they know. :evil:

By the way, SOHC NON Vtec ZC's start at around $300-$350. Not bad for what you get.

i was to believe the ZC motor was used in the Si in japan... and the SiR had the b16

Honda had soooooooooooooo many different combos when it came to stuffing this engine in that car, that it's almost imposible to remember them all.

SOHC ZC outta the EF's is rated at 120HP, while the DOHC ZC is rated b/w 130-140HP(depends on which source ya look it up.)
ZC VTEC is whole other story though.
ZC was for the EF7(JDM Si) and b16 is from the EF8(SiR)

hey guys the motor says 16v on the engine cover and has 4 bolts holding it on on each corner of it, um i hoenstly dont think it sonly 108hp cuzz i dunno it feels like alot more like maybe 140ish but then again who knows.....cuzz she will squeel the tires all the way till i hit 3rd gear and i dunno i cant see a 108hp doing that but then again i could b wrong...

check your plugs

corey, its a "dseries" sohc zc is 120hp, I had one, you can install a vtec head on it easy depending on what year you go with, I have a 96 acura eL, honda civic SI head vtec for that .... $200.00 complete...

for $300, Ill give you, 5th gen intake manifold, 4th gen civic SI dizzy, Head, valve cover (vtec), wires, and timing belt!! that is a good deal guy,
