Magnaflow Muffler!

Im looking to get a Magnaflow muffler and cat.

Is this one any good? How would the sound be?

From the things I read about Magnaflow, I hear its pretty good. It should sound good.

If you are worried about it being loud....get a resonator.
I have 2 1/4 downpipe to a highflow cat then 2 1/2 piping to a resonator and a straight through magnaflow. Did i mention you can hear it while iam crusing. There are some members on here that have heard my car, and cant believe it is so quiet.

just don't get a dual canister..

LC2 26-Jul-2004 11:55 AM

I dont want it to be too loud or too quiet. Im also getting a Carsound high flow cat, r they any good?

Also, does any1 know a good place to do a custom catback?

cee_mon 26-Jul-2004 11:59 AM

Do a poll or something...cause you have to do it right the first time. GET A RESONATOR orelse it will be really loud.

imported_GoldBadge 26-Jul-2004 02:43 PM

get a World Sport 2. Purrrrrfect

DJTre 26-Jul-2004 04:05 PM

I also have a magnaflow. Mine sounds almost stock, but you can really hear it when I punch it.
Very nice muffler for the price IMO, but other people may disagree.

I think it depends on your engine. My friend has a 98 cx hatch with a stock D16Y7 with a magnaflow muffler with the twin 2.5 or 3 inch tips on it and a custom 2-1/4 inch mandrel bent piping. Its a little loud, and kinda makes a brrraaap if ya know what i mean, but it sounds nice still.

Notorious 26-Jul-2004 07:37 PM

Ive heard alot of good things about them.

DJTre 26-Jul-2004 08:53 PM

It also depends on the size of muffler you get.

The 5x11 will obviously be louder than the 4x9.

I got a 4x9 (p/n 14355), and it's very quiet.

coreyhayman 26-Jul-2004 09:00 PM

^ iv got the same muffler with a resonator and it sounds stock, ncie and quiet jsut the way i like it, and i painted her flat black fo the sleeper look, good muffler, nice flow, nice and quiet and less head from the popo

J 26-Jul-2004 09:05 PM

are these the same mufflers that can be picked up at crappy tire?
and corey do you have stock piping or something custom?
i think i would want a bigger size cause i do want some sound

That's a nice looking muffler brah almost stock looking but
I bet it's a straight through design , if so it should have a
deep throaty sound with a resonator...

Yea, it is a straight through design.

How would it sound without a resonator? cuz I don't have a resonator on my car rite now.

I dont want it too be too loud or too quiet. I just wanna hear lil bit of the exhaust sound.

DJTre 27-Jul-2004 12:12 AM

I have a resonator on my car...but I can't imagine that particular muffler being very loud without one.

Mine isn't a straight through design either.

Gunmetalef 27-Jul-2004 12:18 AM

i got a magnaflow and a 2 1/4" mandrel bent exhaust.. with a straight through resonator... it sounds really nice.. i love the sound.. not high pitched at all... but its pretty loud... its the same style picture you posted... i dun think its that bad except at high rpm;s .. but most aftermarket mufflers are loud at high rpms.. so nothing to complain about

imported_civicfighter 27-Jul-2004 01:04 AM

i have one and its pretty good quality.
when you slap on the midpipe and highflow cat, it will get loud..

If you have a very high flow exhaust meaning headers , high flow
cat and 2 1/4 pipe then you might get rattle or "bees in a can"
effect then just slap on a resonator to get that CLEAN SOUND...
