LS Redline

Hey i have a Integra LS engine in my civic coupe and I want to rechip the computer. Does anyone know where I can get that done?and how high should I put the redline?

What mods have you done to the engine?

imported_cbishun 20-Apr-2002 11:09 AM

nothing really, I have exhaust stock headers, and an intake. I plan sometime next week to install underdrive pulleys.

Jugglez 20-Apr-2002 11:19 AM

1st of all stay away from aftermarket pulleys. These mess with your electrical system and it'll drain your battery like nutz. From aperformance standpoint, for the 2 or 3 hp gain you get from them, they're not worth the time, money or effort to install.

Also the stock Honda ECU is already programmed well enough to run with a stock motor, or even a lightly modded motor such as yours. Chipping your ecu won't get you anywhere in terms of performance. I would spend that money on real mods... But for arguments sake, let's say you do re-chip your ecu. If done right your motor should run well. But once you do any mods to the engine it will change your power band and output, and your nicely re-chipped ECU which you paid a lot of money for will no longer work well with your modded motor. You'll need to get it re-chipped again.

thanks for the advice, soo what do u think I should do to make the car push a little more without spending bundles of $$$$$?

Nitrous Oxide seems to work well. :D

Seriously how fast do you want to be in terms of horsepower and torque?

imported_cbishun 20-Apr-2002 12:45 PM

Doesn't really matter what the numbers say, I wanna try to be in the low 14's without spending my tuition money.

Jugglez 20-Apr-2002 06:10 PM

Some Nitrous and a stripped interior might get you there. Sorry man but going fast and doing it cheaply and reliably does not go together, if it did everybody on the street would be running low 14's with their Civic.

what tranny are you using?
if your using an LS trade it in for a GSR.
your top speed will decrease on the highway,
but you'll get quicker 1/4 times.

other then that.....
get a 4-1 header, strip the interior, advance timing, disconnect P/S if you have it and A/C, get performance plugs and wires. this should put you atleast into mid/low 15's, maybe a 14.9 or better? who knows. all depends on your driving skills.
