lowering and its affects on alignment?

just curious here...

i noticed first hand when i lowered my car that the front wheels had a toe out situation... but i didn't notice the rears change aside from the camber...

so what i'm wondering is if i raise my car back up do i really need a new 4 wheel alignment? or can i just get a front wheel one?

my rule is I get an alignment whenever I change something or something feels outta place... however slight, like the car could use an alignment right now .. but anyone else driving the cazr would tell me I'm nuts.

so how is toe adjusted on the rear tires though? like i dont understand how the rear alignment could change really... the rear trailing arm pretty much eliminates any toe being created at the rear...

ok the trailing arm connect to the body at a point towards the front of the car (infront of the rear wheel) then further towards the front it connects to the rear compensator arm it is this compensator arm that has the movement ability to adjust Toe

same topic here but i have a question:

i finally lowered my 4x4 of a civic LoL.... now when i let my hands off the steering wheel and it stays going perfectly straight... that means my alignment is, for the most part, ok right? or is it still all messed up no matter what?

SPECS
i got eibach pro kit BTW
wheels are 16x7 45 offset i believe
tires are 205/45/zr16

im not sure if it all necessary info but i know you guys like as much facts as you can get

No that can also mean that your tires are pointed inwards toward each other. This can cause the vehicle to seem like its ok.

Causes vehicle to track forward in a stright line. "plows"

ya get an alignment to make 100% sure your car is setup correct and your tires will wear perfect

I'm with gatherer on alignment to any change in suspension is good

just because a vehicle tracks straight doesn't mean it's not burning tires....

with any alignment when you've lowered ur car your tires might wear 'evenly' but you'll still get camber wear regardless.... esp if you drive in your car alone all the time, watch out for the front pass tire... it'll be the worst off..

ya i guess we'll see what i get there... it'll be nice running stock springs on illumina's though... no camber wear, no header scrape, no scrape at all actually, plus it'll make the car look slower

it'll be weird sitting 2.5" higher though

For the money spent on an alignment, you could buy the necessary items instead to do it in your own driveway.

I can't really seeing this working as well as getting a perfesional shop with a proper rack to do this. You can get one a million differnt places anywhere for about 50-80 bucks. I personally would rather pay someone to do it right, then do it myself and be wrong.

It's actually quite easy and you can do it...

World Challenge Lexus setting up before the National GP using FISHING line to measure toe.

Simple and very accurate.

i like the actual use of the fishing reel too... maybe i'll just bust something like that up then... basically all you seem to need are 2-4 jack stands, 2 long bars and some fishing line... i think all that could be had for under $80.. expessially if you already have the jack stands or can make something similar from wood
