Don't lower it that much with stock or SIR shocks.. They will blow up in no time with that much of a drop.

buy some aftermarket cause the oem will blow as they are not valved to take a 2 1/2" drop and will blow. It will bounce alot as well. Aftermarket are usually stiffer and you wont bounce as much. The piston travel can be shorter as well to acomidate for the drop. Save your money and buy good stuff youll be happy
tokico, koni, ect all good

Not for that much of a drop illuminas won't cut it.

There is a mod you can do... I hope I remember right but its either the Koni's or Tokico's that you can change the top hat and the spring seat so that you have the same 2.5" dropped ride height but the shock won't take a crap on you.

PS I forgot to Add I'm currently runnin sleeve overs and have used my stock shocks they were blown after 2 or 3 weeks of driving my car slammed. Goin with tein flex or the SS next.

i think it depends on what you want out of your car. It sounds like you have a cosmetic approach to the car. In that case, just get some aftermarket shocks with your sleeves and you should be fine. illuminas have a very good reputation for its price.

valving has little or nothing to do with how fast a shock blows. it's about effective stroke length. when you constantly stress the shocks at the bottom end of it's stroke, it fails more quickly due to higher pressures.

It's not the drop that kills a shock....unless it's bottoming all the time...

Don't go with stock shocks tho...like everyone else said: go aftermarket.

actually think about what you said... why would the car bottom out all the time.... because the drop is too low. therefore it IS the drop that kills a shock.

go aftermarket... even maybe used shocks off the classifieds. just as long as you know how to check a shock.
