its time for an upgrade

ok guys, i am finally looking at dropping another 1200 or so into my car... i have the cash right now and i am willing to do whatever i do as soon as possible... I was thinking the best would be IHE... i know i need a new intake and i have a muffler, but still with factory piping and stuff... i was thinking...

dc sports headers
hi-flow cat
2 1/4" piping
ractive muffle(3" its on there now)

all for about 1100 or less i have been offerred by shops... any ideas about where to get it cheaper or if anyone here has a shop and wants to take on an extra side job that would be cool... any suggestions about other stuff i could do?

...and your car wouldn't run 2 days from now...

I/H/E should fit in your budget.

I had a Hedman 'Chickara' Header on my D w/ Hi Flow Cat and Apex'i World Sport 2 Cat back. I had a short ram intake, too. I think it ran me around 1100 + install.

It sounded great...but I didn't really notice and difference in power.

I would save your money and work on suspension and brakes. Or maybe some HIDs and a grill and a front and rear lip.

are you going to save up even more and put it in your engine when you get more money later on?

if thats the case i strongly suggest you try to save money and just invest in a b series swap

dont waste money on a d
save another grand or so and do a bseries swap
you will regret working on a d-series unless your turboing it.

92extremehatch,

what kinda quarter times were you getting / estimated hp output?

and a turbo kit for $1200.... that would be a good "beginners" setup..... the only way I can see that happening is getting an entire 1g dsm turbo setup (turbo, piping, sidemount, bov, etc), cheap coolant/oil lines/fittings, decent manifold/dp, and ecu.., maybe if you scored some deals you can get injectors and other supporting mods.

unless there are some other common/cheaper routes people take?

a decent new log manifold alone costs $450+ USD. I dun see where you guys get these prices for $1200? unless you buy used, in which case you just bought junk prolly.

you're lookin at around 2500 at least plus a lil cash ontop for w.p or t.b. you gottta make sure u got money on top of what you've been quoted cuz **** happens... i spent abt a 100 ontop cuz of sensor n ****. if i were you i wouldnt touch the dseries unless ur sure u wanna turbo it. work on stuff like sum1 else said.... brakes, suspension and i'd even do the hiflo cat n exhaust cuz dat's sumting u keep if u do a swap.
