ITR tranny question

hey i have a question........I can get a brand spanking new ITR tranny from acura dealer for $1800 (connections), however used ones can be had for like $1000-1200 do you think the $800-600 difference is justifyable, without getting the 4.785 final? can i get some opinions, my head is hurting just thinking about it....lol

The question is really subjective, and it depends on how much cash you have to spend.

I personally have no problem buying used parts as long as they are in good condition and I trust the source.

shorter gears in retard terms is gives you short gears for acceleration but sacrafices top speed but it's not liek you need to go more than 120 km/h anyway

with a b16 tranny (which has practically the same gearing as the ITR) that has a 4.40 final drive while at 70 mph you will be at 4000rpms. Now imagine a 4.75 final drive how high your revs would be while at 70 mph, 70 is my average highway cruising speed. Now you can get around this by using a LS 5th gear while keeping the 4.75 FD.
