Hihi people!
I want this muffler for look, but not sound or performance.
What do you think??

I calculuated it to be around $80.00 CDN here shipped. Thanks!!

dingus8 18-Oct-2003 12:36 AM

dude I noticed by the photo your car is auto....dont' bother modding it man cause it's auto....that muffler will be HUGE and Loud.....it will make your car look pretty stupid.....save for another car that is a 5spd or save for a manual converstion...then piece together a turbo kti so your D16 will have soem speed THE END

imported_jj2ii3344 18-Oct-2003 12:38 AM

Hihi Dingus8!
I will leave the silencer in, should be able to remove the sound ^^
I just need a new muffler and I want the look of it ^^

dingus8 18-Oct-2003 12:44 AM

ya the silencer dosent' kill the noise liek they say...I've heard tons with and without and it barely dulls it out....I'd say jsut go to a local shop so you can look and actaully touch what your buyign...plus ebay you will pay boarder taxes duty and **** so....there has to be a coupel spots where your from to buy mufflers...??

imported_jj2ii3344 18-Oct-2003 12:48 AM

Is there any spot you know that sell these types of mufflers for around $80?? Thanks!!

showcivic 18-Oct-2003 01:07 PM

I bought my carbon fiber muffler from ebay, it sounds and looks good. The silencer does dull out the sound when on, when it's off it's loud as hell.

DJTre 18-Oct-2003 01:40 PM

"Power up to 10% Horsepower!!!"

w00t!

imported_jj2ii3344 18-Oct-2003 02:14 PM

Thanks guys for the inputs!!
Hahahha, these ebay auctions always come up with bullshit statement about how much it can increase horsepower lol

I am going to order one later this month, will let you guys know!!

imported_BoOsTd 18-Oct-2003 02:47 PM

yah its more like 10% percent minus 10 hp increace...lol Mufflers do nothing powerwise...

The silencer on mine makes my exhaust sound almost stock, I can barely hear it with it in... but when its out its pretty loud.... I guess it all depends on the particular muffler...

imported_jj2ii3344 18-Oct-2003 08:18 PM

Hi guys!! Thanks so much for your advice BOOSTZEX!!! (lol, i typed boostsex again lol)

The inlet of the muffler is 2.5" and I think my stock inlet is 2.15" or something?? That is okay right??

imported_BoOsTd 18-Oct-2003 09:51 PM

your stock will be much smaller than that... The exhaust guy should make you a new axle back with the right sleeves to make it fit... expect to spend up ti 100$ for the install... might be able to find a better price than that, but thats about average...80-100$

cikvic 20-Oct-2003 03:47 PM

that's just a cheap imitation of the 5 zigen fireball exhaust that i have....i have no silencer and find that its pretty quiet on my '99 hatch...although i just recuieved an unnecessary noice ticket in 'sauga!!

bbarbulo 20-Oct-2003 04:32 PM

please.... please, if you have ANY sense, you will not purchase this ridiculous product. You would be better off just letting your current exhaust fall of, then buying ANY stock integra axleback and making it fit.

Yea thats a better idea, for 80 bucks you should be able to get a Type R axleback used. Catbacks run like 200 last time I looked.

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 09:44 AM

Does an ITR axle-back bolt onto a EK coupe (Si) readily? If it doesn't, approximately how much would it cost to get it to fit? Thanks! :)

imported_BoOsTd 21-Oct-2003 12:43 PM

^^^ its not a worth while upgrade, but if your old muffler is done for, than its a good idea forsure...

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 01:39 PM

Why is it not a worthwhile upgrade? Coming back to my question, does an ITR axle-back bolt right up to EK coupes?

bbarbulo 21-Oct-2003 01:55 PM

92-00 Civic shares the exhaust, so if it bolts to a 5th gen, it'll bolt to a 6th gen.

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 02:11 PM

I guess that's the big question... :) Does an ITR axle-back bolt right on to 5th gen or 6th gen Civics??

bbarbulo 21-Oct-2003 02:15 PM

with slight modification that any exhaust place can perform. we have affiliates that'll get you a discount

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 02:42 PM

I see! :) So what's a good affiliate for that? I'm a paid member. :)

yes its a bolt on for 92-00 civic Coupes and 4 doors

i know some one who has one for sale if u are interested pm me

bbarbulo 21-Oct-2003 03:13 PM

oh right... you said you have a coupe.

imported_BoOsTd 21-Oct-2003 03:37 PM

why would you do this if your current muffler is fine? you going to gain about ZERO hp, and its going to look and sound the exact same as it did before... waste of time and money IMO... save your efforts and money for a 2 1/4' catback...

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 03:52 PM

I've upgraded to an SiR midpipe, but still have my stock Si muffler. So now I need a better muffler to complete the upgrade. With the midpipe, I've already noticed the engine running smoother at high RPM (3500+ RPM) even with the stock muffler. I wonder how much better it'd be if I hook up an ITR muffler.

imported_BoOsTd 21-Oct-2003 03:56 PM

ok..lol..you didnt mention you had the midpipe already... your stock muffler is definately chokeing the midpipe... You will get better top end.. but it still isnt 2 1/4' .. wont be a drastic change.. most you will see is about 5hp with the whole midpipe and muffler...

imported_BoOsTd 21-Oct-2003 03:59 PM

how big is the ITR pipes 2' ?

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 04:11 PM

Would I be better off with an ITR muffler or something like a Magnaflow/Dynomax? I think the latter have 2.25" axle-back pipes... I wonder how big the ITR axle-back pipe is too... 2"?

imported_BoOsTd 21-Oct-2003 04:23 PM

definately the Magnaflow.. a quiet one...

j9chan 21-Oct-2003 04:43 PM

I heard the Magnaflow could be quite loud... whereas someone on the foums say the Dynomax is almost as quiet as stock. What do you think? And what's wrong with an ITR muffler? It's supposed to flow 195hp no?

j9chan 22-Oct-2003 09:51 AM

BoOsTZeX? Still around? :)

bbarbulo 22-Oct-2003 10:27 AM

Most companies do make quiet mufflers... just most ppl choose not to buy them. Magnaflow and Dynomax both have nice quiet exhausts, but I prefer Magnaflow. However, w/o listening to it first, you are taking a stab in the dark. Si Veloz has one of the nicest, quitest aftermarket exhausts around, and JookSingKid also has a really nice, quiet exhaust.

j9chan 22-Oct-2003 10:35 AM

Would you know what Si Veloz and JSK's exhaust are? :)

bbarbulo 22-Oct-2003 10:40 AM

Magnaflow and Vibrant respectively, but it's not who MAKES the exhaust, but rather what TYPE of exhaust you buy. Ask the individuals for the specifics of what exhaust they have.

imported_BoOsTd 22-Oct-2003 11:55 AM

I have a Vibrant muffler W./ silencer ... with the silencer out and as a direct replacement of OEM muffler without any other exhaust mods (ie.. stock manifold, midpipe, with cat) its a very low non annoying exhaust note... with silencer in its quiet as a mouse.. Its the quietest can style muffler ive ever heard with the silencer in and out...

But since I did headders, fireball midpipe without catconverter, its a loud deep exhaust note, like you can feel it in your chest at WOT.. I dont find it annoying... But the midpipe and headders are the main contributers to the sound here...

I think you can get these for around 100 buck now..

dingus8 22-Oct-2003 12:05 PM

itr mid pipe is 2 1/4...it is a low restrictive stock muffler....it's not liek you get huge gains puttign an exhaust on an itr.....get a itr muffler....a canister exhaust is gay and loud and out of style....the "stock" look is ungay and mroe excetable to police...

bbarbulo 22-Oct-2003 12:08 PM

it's ungay :haha:  LOL but it's so true... those canisters are so out of style, it looks like a mullet

Well Magnaflow has different styles to choose from, they make the loudest muffler you can find, and they make the quietest one you can find, and a few in between... i think dynomax is the same... Theres nothing wrong with the ITR muffler if you have the midpipe to match... if you had the smaller diameter midpipe, upgradeing to the ITR muffler alone would show no results...

The whole Idea of a good exhaust system is to have everything match to make a perfect flow of gases... The smoother it pulsates through the pipes and out the muffler the better the results you will see... bacically the smallest diameter of the exhaust is as good as the exhaust will ever be...

Im not sure of the diameter of an ITR pipe...

imported_BoOsTd 22-Oct-2003 12:14 PM

yah I got it 3 years ago when they were cool... but im not one to replace **** that aint broken, so it will stay for now.. I dont get attention from the cops so its fine... pluse its tucked away under my bumper, cant even see it...

yah yah.. everyones always hurting to be different eh... once everyone puts thier stock tail lights and oem mufflers back on, then the altezzas and can mufflers will be cool again.. endless cycle just like the clothing industry...

So you say the ITR is 2 1/4? then j9chan I would finish it off with the ITR muffler.. probably be cheaper, and it will bolt right up to your existing midpipe:thumbup:
