by the way....i also got a stock VOLVO manifold that is bolted to the turbo right now.....
the holes will not bolt to my engine head.....so is there anyway i can MAKE it fit? or is the manifold useless to me?

pretty much useless, but you can cut the flange off the Volvo one, cut the flange off the stock downpipe, and weld the two together, and voila... turbo is mounted. HOWEVER!!!! - this may cause clearance issues, cuz there isn't THAT much room to work with. Some place in... Hamilton I think, makes custom manifolds for like $3-400 bux.

the custom pipes are cheaper then paying $800-$1000 for bolt on ones. I know, because I was thinking of the same thing last year. I think this should be your long term project, don't get too ambious, you wouldn't have any fun.

what kind of pipes should i use? stainless steel?, cast iron? aluminum?
and what kind of weld so it will withstand the heat?
anyother suggestion to make the welds look pretty?
like something to cover the weld up?

check this out

I like hearing your updates streetextreme... I've been in the same boat as you for the last while... but I'm too cheap to go turbo. I think I"ll just wait till my engine gets weak, then get a crazy rebuilt with a crazy crank...

Tubular Stainless Steel Turbo Manifolds

All of Super T Motorsports headers are made of either Aircraft Quality 321 stainless steel, or for the budget minded, 304 Stainless is available. For those who are daily driving their vehicle, 321 stainless steel is a must as it is highly risistant to heat fatique and subsequent cracking. For those on a budget who only drive or race their vehicles a couple times a week, the 304 is an affordable alternative.

Short runner stlye, B & D series:
321 Stainless: $475
304 Stainless: $395

Patrick, you'll need to purchase 1 1/2" 304L 10 schedule stainless steel butt welded fittings. Two 90's Part Number 45735K215 and two T's Part Number 45735K255. You can order them from www.mcmaster.com

I think I paid $38 U.S. shipped to my door. I made the turbo and manifold flanges but they can be purchased. You'll have to do some more research to see where they can be purchased like the link above.

You'll have to get someone with experience in TIG welding and purge the piece while welding. I know of someone that would do it but he is a little busy doing his own turbo project!

If all else fails you can buy one off of ebay. There is a guy selling them from the Niagra region, but they are made of cast iron. I don't know if they are any good or not.

Do not buy the OBX tubular ones!! I've heard they are thin walled and they crack!

Good luck and let me know if you need more info!

Someone does them

Some shop, that I always forget the name and location of, does especially this kind of work. He makes civic/teg manifold for turbo's for $500, last he told me. He modifies existing manifolds for around $300.

He installs entire turbos for around $500 too for civics and teg's.

Its the shop near the tire shop that always advertises "You'll flip over our prices" in the buy&sell paper.

Please tell me the name/location if anyone remembers. The office at front is red and white and his car (for track racing) is a tubbed out red crx, I think.

It is not altech.

I recall it being somewhere near steeles/hwy27, but I forget.
