what's up everybody,
i just went for an emission today an i failed on this category:
limit reading
NO ppm 827 1136 fail
they told me that this has something to do with fuel consumption, they said the car was burning too much gas?. Does anyone has a solution for this
so i can pass, don't want to pay $100 emission diagnostic. Anyone know's if there is some kinda chemical u add to reduce the number cause i don't have enough $ for an engine swap right now, thanks

NO is unburnt fuel...what year is your car, and do you have any mods...there is no simple solution...if you have an older car look at the O2 sensor. Test it to make sure it works. From there, you need to check vacuum leaks, and ensure that your timing is correct. Then, check your plug wires with an ohm meter, and change/gap your spark plugs...change your air filter too if you haven't done so. Inspect your cap and rotor too. If you determine all of the above are okay, then it's time to get dirty...you will have to check each individual sensor to ensure proper feedback to the ECU. It's the only way to fix it right, and will pay for itself in the long run through reduced gas consumption.

use methyl hydrate
I did it to pass my emissions. What you do is run your car untill it is almost empty, i mean like right at the line. Take it for a good rip right before you go to get the test, easier to pass when the car is warmed up real good .Then you just add methyl hydrate into your gas tank, right before you get the test. Car should pass. When done go to the gas station and fill it up, to dilute the methyl hydrate.

this is what ive heard about emissions testing;
change your oil and air filter
make sure the car is up to normal operating temp when being tested
have u changed your air filter recently?
keep in mind that the mixture that is burnt in the cylinders is air and fuel in a specific ratio (14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel). your car failed because there was too much gas to air in the mixture, but if your air filter is dirty, it is possible that your mixture is off because you dont have enough air (it has the same effect as too much fuel)
bottom line - clean oil and air filter and a warm engine should help you pass the test

Heard drive your car on the highway prior to being tested to get rid of the carbons in the system....don't drop it off somewhere and have it tested....get it tested as soon as you get there. Also crappy tire sells some 'emission cheater' additives you put in your fuel to help you pass 'legally'.....
A friend used it on a car that just shouldn't have passed and using the method above and the crappy tire additive he passed.

i recently put a chemical called guarantee emmission passed, the instruction is to fill the gas tank up and fill in the additives and burn the whole entire gas before going into emissions. This was referred to me by my mechanic i'll probably try again this thursday to see if it works

Also I was wrong in saying that NO is unburnt fuel. CO is unburnt fuel...NOx is a result of poor ignition performance and a failing catalytic converter. Check your gap and spark plug performance, test your plug wires, and change the distributor cap if need be. As for your cat...like someone said, take it for a good rip around the block and on the highway to knock as much loose crap out of the engine as possible.

higher octane gas results in lower emissions, unburnt mixture is cleaner, hence less emissions, use the methyl hydrate, one of my buddies added 4 liters and he passed his 94 grand prix that had no catalytic converter, it works
