help: thermostat problem?
Hi I have a 94 Civic and I recently got a motor swap done. Anyways twice in the last month I noticed that my temperature dropped on my temp gauge while driving. The first time it happened on the highway. The second time it happened on the street (after travelling about 70-80 km/hr for a while). But I noticed that when I pulled off the highway (in the first case) and slowed down to stop at a stoplight (in the second case) the temperature increased back to normal. Is this most likely due to a bad thermostat?

i have the same symptoms, happens once and awhile if its really cold out.. I replaced my thermostat, new hose clamps, and new fluid, no leaks in theysystem.. So i dont know whats wrong... i kinda lost interest cuz the weathers warm out now so it doesnt happen

If it isnt dropping too far below your usual idle temperature, i wouldnt worry about it.
But if it is, it might be your thermostat. If its a fail-safe it might be stuck open and will eventually trigger a CEL if you run on too cold for too long.

Sounds like a thermostat to me...how cold was it out when this happened...was it during the cold freeze?? -30°C?? When ur driving on the highway...ur motor is being cooled a lot more then if ur sitting at a dead stop...hence the reason ur temp gauge went back up.....I think its ur thermostat...very easy to replace..good luck
