now that is funny. people its a mass produced engine. hand ported? ya a little japanese lady in the assembly line with a sanding roll...thats all that is done... the throats of the ports are sanded. and hand torqued with a micrometer...wtf? any production engine can realize good gains from higher compression and good cams period. hell if they couldnt we wouldnt have racing.

I watched a BEST Motoring video on the History of Type R last night and they showed them doing this. Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it was just the 96-98 ones, I dunno. I don't really care.

the only honda production engine that I heard was hand ported and stuff was the NSX...

well actually on the last issue of honda tuning a guy has a jdm itr and he redlined it at 10,000 rpm he claims.

If the bottom end is balanced, then I would believe the engine can rev that high. But will the cam make power all the way to 10k RPM is another question.

ive seen a type r rev to 11,000 rpm....on the down shift.
