Finally, the REX gets a motor...

well today i spent some loot, because my civic is no-where close to being done any time soon..

I decided to go with the big block B series, b20...
this is gonna be a torque monster in the crx

here is what im thinking,

b20b its the high compression motor, 9.6:1, 146hp/133tq
skunk2 intake manifold
type R TB
gsr hydro tranny
hasport cable-hydro conversion kit.
ITR 4-1 JDM header, will settle for decent 4-1 header

anyone have any imput on this or what I could change to make a little better top end?

what makes you think you need to do anything to gain "top end?"

swap it and enjoy it first hand

big bore engines like bigger exhausts, they like head work, and different cam profiles. but like JSK said, there is no need to mess around with a good Honda engine until it actually needs work. The header is one area that you will notice massive improvement from stock though.

bbarbulo, for top end gains, would you say the 4-1 is the better of the header(s) then?

should be a mid 14 right out of the box. Also, which type-r tb were u thinking? Jdm R is the only one that is bigger (62mm).
Also if you goign to go with the gsr tranny, Brekex (i think thats his username) is selling a MINT mugen lsd for 500 buck!

I'd choose a JDM ITR exhaust for the B20 beast

B20 Congratulations....you're going to love your it.

If I could have afforded it, I would have swapped in a B20 when I did my swap.

Torque!!!

you'll be much more happy with a gsr, but if you dont have enough money, b20 is a great choice.

personally, ive been in a gsr crx, wasnt too pleased, sure its got lots of top end, but the crv will have the same pull but 3k rpms instead of 7k

What about putting a VTEC head on the B20?
