F.Y.I. On Cracked Exhaust Manifolds

Just a little info, I have a cracked manifold (as most of you know), I called Parkway as I was told this is under warranty. There was questions as to how many km's and years it was covered up to. I was told It's 150,000 km or 8 years by Parkway. Hope this helps anyone else that runs into the same problem.

I am over my limit.

Yeah, I had mine replaced under warranty at Formula Honda, but they "made up for the loss" by forcing me to replace a seized O2 sensor which otherwise didn't have to be removed if the exhaust manifold didn't crack.

How much was your O2 sensor? Must have been a fraction of the cost of a new manifold.

BTW...was this ever a recall item?

I think they charged me around $200 for the O2 sensor (just one - the other, for whatever reason, was part of the warranty replacement)

Oddly enough, I bought a used exhaust manifold w/ 30K on it for $100 off the forums here 'cuz I didn't know it was under warranty until the seller mentioned it to me.

I actually had it on me until 2 weeks ago when my mechanic needed it for an older EK.

I forgot to ask also - is the replacement manifold any more resilient to cracking, or should I expect it to crack within another 100K?

they u****ed you if the o2 sensor doesnt come out they must replace it for free not your fault the manifold cracked and allowed **** to make your o2 sieze i would go back and get me money.
and i am 100% sure as i have done countless numbers of these when i was at honda.the only thing they can make you pay for is the heat shields.

It's been half a year since I got the replacement. Do I take it up with Honda Canada or Formula Honda?

for the price of the 02 you could have bought a decent SS header and a used O2 off the class for the same price...

That's what they do to make their $$$. There is no free lunch in this world. They would say it's under warranty and then they will tell u this thing is no good or broken. That's what Midas and speedy does. They say lifetime Warranty on brakes. Brakes get worn out depends on the driving so how could there be lifetime warranty. They just charge u a little more for labour and also use the cheapest pads they have which is like $15 probably. U go to speedy to get your muffler changed. It is under warranty because u've replaced a muffler before from them. They will tell u that the mid pipe is very rusty and it might break so therefore they charge u for the mid pipe which is very expensive and give u the free muffler at no charge. Is all BS. A lot of the places are a scam now. U buy a used car not from a private sale. When u buy the car they would tell u do u want to buy the extended warranty for 2 years or something for another $200 rite? So u say yes because it seems cheap rite. There are no warranty really. First they don't tell u how much they cover up to. For instance $850. They only cover power train warranty. So say when your engine and tranny does go or have problems. U are talking about $2000 job or more and that doesn't even include labour. Don't u ppl think what i said is right? I might be off topic, but oh well. U shouldn't have paid for the 02 sensor. How could they not get it off. All 02 sensors come off. Just use a little bit of heat.

Honestly, if you make a big enough squawk about it, I'm sure Honda canada will work something out with the dealership and get it done for you. Just be a difficult customer and you'll get what you want.

+1

That is true. If you call Honda Canada and be irrate as possible they will deffinately work something out that will be beneficial to both parties involded. You can't except them to sit by and possibly lose a customer that will buy their product in the future.

Yes but then you will have to extend the 02 sensor to the cat and probably have to get a header in place of the manifold.

I am getting my welded and probably do a swap next year if I get the funds together. Not wasting anymore money on this engine.

Oh thats funny. Same here....LoL

Ya, Honda wouldn't do mine since its beyond the limit in km's but whatever, the stock one ain't that great to begin w/ ne way. Got a aftermarket one and it runs better.

Just bumping this as I see lots of people looking for manifolds in the WTB. Just some info in case you weren't aware.
