exhaust question

Hi guys Ed here:
I have a 90 Civic si 1.6. It breathes well enough but needs work on the exhaust side . Any ideas on a reasonably priced header?. And are these free flow converters for real . A local muffler shop that does custom exhaust states that there really isn't much difference between a regular one. Is it worth spending the money?
Thanks Ed.

well, a 1990 cat is prolly dead anyways, so I'd spend the money to get a new one put in. When new, the cats flow well, but after they get clogged up with 14 years worth of carbon, they don't flow so well.
