Thanks to everyone for your input I'm certain that I will do an H22 swap. blk98cx thats a nice pic, how long did it take to install and how much trouble was it. I love the way that engine sounds too. Took my buddies SH out for a cruise one nite and got hooked!

me and my friend(mechanic) took us about 1 week...you'll run into the wiring and axle alignment problem!!! thats the only hard part about this swap is the wiring and combining axles(but you can always buy the aftermarket one) if you bring it to a shop that has done this swap before it should be more quicker!!! im glad you choose h22!!! you'll have fun!!!

^^^^ wanna bet?
Sure h22's have a lot of torque, but my b16 makes as much whp as h22's, and its not boosted.

I think he's talking stock vs stock.

I ran a guy with a B16 built w/ internal and b18 head in a 4dr. We were neck and neck for 3 runs, in the end it's totally a drivers race.

I've seen stock H22 dyno 190+ whp w/ bolt-ons.

There's definitely serious potential out of all these motors, they all have their pros and cons and arguments about which is better would never end.

The bang for buck is just great on the H22 though. The shop I bought my last h22 from is now selling engine / tranny / ecu for $1800 as of today.

You could literally do the full swap for like $2500 including a new clutch and new belts/pump/spark.

I'm so tempted to do another one.. since I sold the last one, I've been getting annoyed on a regular basis with these **** box accords and civics i've had.

so a built b16 in a 4 door was keeping up with your h22 hatch?
so put that b16 in a hatch and see what happens. But i agree, its all up to the driver.
The stock h22's that i've seen dyno'd put out 180whp and 145 ft/lbs. I mean a pretty stock b20vtec can put out those numbers, or a mildly build lsvtec. H22's have a nice long stroke 90mm and a 87mm bore, which translates into lots of torque and low end power, but they can't rev to 9k all day like b's can.
Like cablerat said we could debate H vs B all day. I'm just personally not a big fan of the h22 engine.

for what you would pay for a K swap you could build a monster b-series. And you would have a fresh 0km engine that you know is mint instead of some k-series that you don't know how hard the previous owner beat on or how they maintained it or didn't maintain it.
The b-series that you could build for the same price as a K-swap would destroy a K-series or h22. I guess i'm just partial to the b-series b/c i know what they're capable of. If you're going to go K go k24, no questions asked, go big or go home. Besides there are tonnes of people that have K's in their civics, just check out k20a.org or honda-tech.com

well depends what your needs are. if you're into drag then yeah k24 with k20 head combo is for you but if you're into road racing, k20 is for you. k24block/k20head in a hatch = major traction problems.

keep in mind his budget probably doesn't allow him to go k. they are a pretty expensive swap right now but if you got connections you could get away with the swap for half the price. anyways, if you want to go k that bad but can't afford it, just turbo your d for now until you can the price on the k series drop.

we can argue here for the next month fellaz!!! but it all depends on the engine mod!!! why would i race my 98hatchh22 against a fully built ek hatch gsr when my car doesnt have much mods!!! now if a have an fully built all moto h22 vs a b18 fully built all mota on an EK hatch!!! it comes down to the driver!!!

the guy has 4-5 grand to spend...he can spend that on any b series or h or b20vtec(except for itr or k series) ...but for now he's choice is an h22!!! good choice!

You can still keep it. I happen to enjoy power steering and AC.

Power steering and ac dont really matter to me I usually drive with my windows down in the summer anyway, and am trying to see if I can make my coupe a targa top. I love the H22 and I think it will make some nice power in my civic. I am more than willing to spend the extra time and get it done right swaping out what I dont need and putting in what I do. I have 3 buddies that are going to help with this and 2 of them are mechanics who have done B series swaps. I'm am really looking forward to see the end results and the difference it will make from my d16.

k20a all the way!!! save up for it now ...you won't regret spending the extra money..wayy more power potential...don't get me wrong h22's are awesome motor but the k20's are **** loads better. don't let anyone sway you! do your own research and come up with a decision on your own!
