Engine Swap

I am from Woodstock, ONT and looking for an Engine I know there is alot of places in Toronto that sell JDM engines I was wondering if anyone could give me a good idea of a good place to go to get a;

B18C JDM Engine
COMPLETE

Tranny
ECU
Harness
Distributor
Clutch

See I was looking at a place in Montreal but all I heard were bad things like the oil pan was dented and the harness was cut all sorts of problems that I don't want.

If you could give me some opinions on these places and websites if they have em'

Thank you very much

Altech has been known to fix other shops mistakes as well ... some p[eople on here didn't see the light and took their car to non affiliate shops just to have it come back not working right ... then they took it to Joe at Altech who'd fix it all up like it should have been done by the first shop... use the search feature you'll find these stories of Altech fixing other non-afiliate shops mistakes.

and as for Leitner well lets just say he'll be rebuilding any motor I throw into my car. why? because he's trustworthy and has been known to stand behind his work. the only end result of him building an engine has been smiles when the acclerator is pushed...

I haven't heard much personally about the others on that page ..but like Boostzex said they are there for a reason. I highly doubt you'd be able to find a horror story about any of them..... it's takes an above average shop to get listed on that page.

Buddy, just which part of "check affiliates" don't you understand?

LOL

Just playing with ya.

Your car is in good hands when you visit Leitner or Altech (of course, other affiliates as well)

Good luck my friend.

to answer taht, call altech and ask how much to install a motor you bring, then call lucky star and ask how much for motor..

I would suggest just letting altech get the motor, cuz if u buy the motor yourself you may not know what is wrong with it.. and your not gonna get a garantee cuz you bought the motor. lucky star will only give u a start up garantee. trust me, when u buy from those jap import shops their engines have a lot of **** missing or broken.. you have to literally sit there and inspect all the sensors, make sure stuff isn't broken.

I bought my motor frmo Tiger Japan.. I found one motor that had minimal stuff missing, then proceeded to remove sensors and what not off the other motors they had.. if you don't know exactly what your buying you may end up screwed.. I had to research everything for like a month on the H22 before I went to shops for prices and quality.. Some shops will sell ya complete swaps cheaper than others but beware, lotta broken sensors and you not knowing can result in a lot of expenses later..

it woudl be cheaper to just let altech pic out the motor seeign how they will pick a good motor out and test it, and make sure all sensors are intact and operate good...I'd only buy form tiger of lucky if I was to do it myself...jsut take it to altech or anyother shop to get it all done...it seems liek yoru knwoledge of swappign isnt' good so for you a good shop will be best to do everythign at....alot of people deal with altech...they pay to be an affiliate so they want to do good work or else they will get they boot..it isnt' the chepaest place around but because they have good mechanics that they have to pay and dotn' jsut do a hack job so....a b18c into a obd integra will cost a pretty penny anywhere cause the swap alone is 4000-4500 then they have to wire it in put a clucth timgin belt and water pump...adds up..maybe look into a obd 1st gen b16..drops in no wire hassle..but not as powerful

USDM B18C is somewhere around 4G+ last time I called Altech. B18C5 is around 6G+. H22 is 7.

Don't split the motor from labour, it will only bring you more headache down the road unless you gonna install it yourself or you have a substaintial amount of knowledge in the engines.

Pay a little more so you get less trouble down the road.

those prices are just like straight swaps right? no changing clutch/belts/or anything?

Splitfire Performance charged me $1500 for my GSR swap. Of course I paid extra on top of that for converting from auto to manual. I got the motor for about $3300 w/ LSD tranny from Best Japanese Auto Parts.
