tighten up every single belt in your engine bay..I had the same problem last week.. beacuse of the heat and the temperture outside..it might cause the belts to be loosen. double check with that

ROCKET VTEC 31-May-2005 08:15 PM

how do u tighten the belt? they are just rubbers? should i maybe just install new ones

imported_magicguy 01-Jun-2005 02:20 AM

how to tighten up the belts? there are lots of belts
I recommand u to bring it to a shop and let them tighten up for ya

you have to loosen the pulley bolts then adjust the pulley back adjusting the belt tension.

If its a 96-00 Civic Sedan then it could more then likely be the AC pulley, since the bearings in them seem to go bad very often. You'll notice a high pitches kind of sqeaking at idle if that's bad ... but its most likely your belts or a pulley somewhere.

yep i fixed the probalem atlest for now i sprayed some wd40 on the pulleys and it went away

civicnation 03-Jun-2005 03:56 PM

wd-40 or oil sprayed on the pulleys quiets them down very nicely. Just be careful to not spray the belt itself which may cause it to slip. I just did this recently and now my engine sounds brand new again :)

WD-40 is only a temporary fix ... give it a few more days and it will come back
