tighten up every single belt in your engine bay..I had the same problem last week.. beacuse of the heat and the temperture outside..it might cause the belts to be loosen. double check with that

you have to loosen the pulley bolts then adjust the pulley back adjusting the belt tension.

If its a 96-00 Civic Sedan then it could more then likely be the AC pulley, since the bearings in them seem to go bad very often. You'll notice a high pitches kind of sqeaking at idle if that's bad ... but its most likely your belts or a pulley somewhere.

wd-40 or oil sprayed on the pulleys quiets them down very nicely. Just be careful to not spray the belt itself which may cause it to slip. I just did this recently and now my engine sounds brand new again

WD-40 is only a temporary fix ... give it a few more days and it will come back
