that gsr had stock injectors and a basemap made for stock injectors for the majority of its life, (so those tiny 240s were maxxed out at like 5psi and 6000rpms). Who knows how it was driven or for how long in that condition.
It also had rediculous amounts of timing pulled (owner only wanted to use 91 octane) and never saw an afr leaner than 12.3:1 or ECT higher than 195 degrees once tuned.
He knew he was taking a chance beforehand due to the oil burnage factor. My guess is rings, but it hasn't been torn down yet. Another engine was swapped in.
I've seen engines in worse shape last a lot longer and make a lot more power (over 300whp).
Cynikal, chris and I were just playin with Fug for the most part.
If you have the money to boost your car (especially if its a daily driver) you have to have the money to fix it when something happens, b/c **** does happen.
Boost it and enjoy it.

hahaha oh man, was i ever scared to do it after reading this topic.....good news is i am at least getting bigger injectors (from greddy i believe) and i am also going to be replacing my headgasket with a metal one prolly within the next week (whenever my buddies at speedy can get me into the shop)...so i don't think it will turn out too bad at all....and anyways, ls long blocks go for like 400 bux anyways so if, by chance it does blow, i'll just drive non boosted (chris style...lol) until i actually have a ton of cash to build up the engine..=D

hahha, emo boy? lol.....u getting a gsr eh? ya, there is no website, they are one of the affiliates of this site though, and everyone at jrp knows mark and says he knows everything about hondas's etc.......so hes installing, and tuning it with crome as well.....its a street tune though, no dyno, but its only going to be running like 5 psi so it should be good...=D

man 5psi? Why bother?

I just tuned a turbo LS yesterday and it took 10psi like a champ and pulled really hard.
A street tune is more than sufficient, if you wanna know how much power you are making, take it to the dyno for a couple of pulls, or wait until some place has a 2 pulls for $40 type of deal and run your car then.
Or have someone dyno tune your car for a couple of hours when you have the money.
Street tunes are good for getting everything safe and reliable and running strong, then you take it to the dyno to dial it in for max power. The majority of the cars out there are only street tuned, which IMO is ok b/c if you are going to drive the car everyday on the street, there is no better place to simulate everyday driving conditions than driving it on the street.

5 psi for winter, then in spring i am getting a new ls engine and taking it back to the shop where, for about 1500 i can get everything i need to run it daily driving at around 12 psi......what kinda internals does the 10 psi ls have u tuned? and what kinda compression did it have before it was turbo'd???

i don't know what the compression numbers were like, but it was fresh from a wrecker and completely bone stock internals.

If you're gunna put forged internals in it at least run like 15-18psi.

dude, u really dont make sense...why are u gonna really install a kit and pay for installation (i'm guessing) then in the spring get a new engine and get it built? why dont u just horde parts over the winter and then come spring install and tune it all at once instead of taking a chance now and blowing a motor and having to pay more than u need to in the first place?

be smart and wait and get it all done right instead of half assing it now and risk more unneeded expenses

meh, ur right i know, but its just one of those things i wanna do really badly, and who knows, this engine might be fine for all i know. then i can just build this one up and rebuild what i need to......i will have extra "beater" money in case something goes wrong with it though, and if it does, it can't be too much to fix, but the way i see it is, if i don't do this now i will be really bored of my car and end up selling it before spring anyways....=(
