I believe Moroso has an RPM activated switch.
You can also try a shift light. Just rewire it so it triggers the VTEC solenoid instead of the light.
You should get the correct ECU for it though (PR3, I think) since it will change the fuel and timing once VTEC is activated.

The man is right... unless you richen the mixture, you are really gonna **** yourself. There is a reason why Honda made a separate computer for the VTEC motors. loudsubz is right too... they tested that ****, so unless you got cams and severe head work, I don't know why you'd be doing what you wanna do. donesixer, the shift light pills would be a good way to do it, if the maps were correct for the fueling... but they are not.

I agree, the rpm switches are definitely a ghetto rig. That is why I recommended the ECU in my original response.
At the same time, the computer will sense the change in vacuum and change the fuel delivery accordingly. The VTEC crossover occurs in closed loop operation. The fuel is added and the ignition is advanced only for performance, not reliability.
You can run with it ghetto rigged for as long as you want, you will not get all the power that is available, however.
Oh, good way to **** things up is to engage VTEC too early. Oil pressure is to low to get a full engagement. You'll get rocker arm stew eventually...
